The '65 wagon Superwagon is an elusive kit , price-wise -- even the c.1987 issue (yellow on the box) is a bit pricy for me .

For those who haven't seen inside these kits...be warned that the 1987 issue isn't just yellow on the box. It's molded in a bright, eye-hurting yellow plastic.

The older AMT/ERTL "Buyer's Choice" issue with the green car on the box is gray plastic. So is the later "Street Stock and Strip" AMT/ERTL version.  I have both of those and just looked inside them.  The 2015 "Retro Deluxe" issue was white plastic.

And as 1972coronet said, that Superwagon is kind of hard to find, considering it was just released 3 years ago.  But ignoring the usual eBay/Amazon opportunists and checking eBay Completed Listings, looks like they can be had in the $20-40 price range with some hunting.  A Buyer's Choice version is on eBay right now with a starting bid of $7.29 + $8.95 shipping. It's a new listing so it has 6 more days to run.  But no bids on it so far.

Some nifty stuff there . I'll likely pick up the '62 Catalina and the El Camino ( isn't the '65 slated for reissue as well ? If so , I hope that the companion '65 wagon make another round ) .

What engine is supposed to be in the Jeep ? Dauntless V6 ? AMC V8 ?

Yes, still the V6.

You guys evidently skipped the 1/64s.... Or you'd all be clamoring for the OLDS Superbee.  The card says Dodge.   But yeah, I'm kinda calling him out on the OLDS Superbee.   Pay attention, or go back and do it right, if you want us to believe that you believe and know something of your product line and car history.   Kits?  Meh.  I already have the ones I like out of these.   HOWEVER, if you don't have the Fairlane, Edsel, and Pontiac, don;t hesitate.  These were tooled in a high time at AMT, I think.

Couple of the 1/64s I liked.  I am changing my collection to 1/64s because they take up less space.  Especially the 1/18s.  If I have a smaller version, I sell the bigger ones off.

And you guys moving?  I feel for ya.  My wife keeps looking at houses, but I really don't want to pack up again.  Good luck with your moves.

Is the Round2 guy a sci-fi modeler?   He sure is not a car guy.   Olds Super Bee?   '69 Pontiac Polyglass Gasser?   '58 Edsel - 50 years of Edsels?   [58 + 50 years = 2008.  Is the kit 10 years late already?]

Sheeesh.  Put me in, Coach.

I saw that one, and that is another good one, though I still have that one from the last time it was out.

Though having found out this beauty is based on a 300, I may just get another

Seems like quite a few of AMT's kits of the 1987-1988 vintage were moulded in that 'Staph Infection Yellow' !

That's the one I'd prefer ; the c.2015 reissue . I can barely stomach those Racing Chumps era kits' box art !

Lots of people smoking poodle poop out there ! I've seen some that were in the 40$ plus range ! I'll just "wait it out" until Round2 reissues the wagon again . Thanks for the heads-up , kind sir !

Thanks for the info / link , Casey !  I have a bit of a fetish for those Odd-Fire V6's ... perhaps an F-85 Olds 2 door post of '64 , '65 vintage would love one under its bonnet  !

Weird. It seems like that thing was on clearance racks (along with the MPC 74 Caprice) just yesterday - but your right, eBay sellers askin’ a lot! It’s not a super great kit either - cool and doable, but, you know, it’s old school tech.

I'm with you on the Catalina and El Camino. Those two are the two I'm most likely to pickup.

Sorry to say, as others have noted here, Rob missed it on the Commando kit set up. The real vehicle went to AMC engines, along with the other Jeeps for '72. The Commando also got the new front end at the same time. As noted, MPC updated the looks of their Commando kit. But not the engine. The kit still has the Dauntless (Buick) V6 in it. It maybe wrong. But it's okay with me. That's the way kits were done back then. Most kids would have never known it was wrong.

Poor guy, hope he never reads all the hate he gets everywhere from what he wears, to what he says, to people blaming him (elsewhere) about what Round2 is making.  Just the other day while making a video I said Fujimi when I meant Tamiya TWICE in a row while looking at a photo with a giant Tamoya logo in it. Word soup happens to us mere mortals.

No one noticed the giant sticker on the box lid that says 50 Years of Edsel that he just read out? Sure blame the video guy, not the marketing and art department for no one in the entire approval process knowing how to math.

I mean if you guys all hate this poor schmuck so much that every one of these monthly videos gets turned into "lob flames at the Round2 guy", why don't you all just save yourself the stress and not watch it? Or at least sling some arrows at the editing department who when they were watching this thing in Post Production didn't realize he says Olds Superbee or '69 Pontiac either. Thank God none of y'all perfect folks EVERY mispeak in this sanctum of perfection.

Bingo. Chad comes off as a very nice guy, but he's being let down by the crew.

I'd rather that Round2 ( or any organisation for this matter ) manufacture good quality products ,  than make some slick-slade snake oil video that's full of cow dung and empty promises .

It's easy to shoot the messenger .

This pretty much sums up the model kit industry for me.

Wow!  Talk about an over-reaction.

First of all, I did not say I hate Chad.  I don't hate.  That's way too strong an emotion and way too strong a word.

Secondly, they put it out there.  Even if Chad (or anyone else) is given a script, it's his face and his mouth that says it.  He's the final proofreader.

That's all.

For anyone wanting a correct engine for the Commando kit the Honcho kit has a pretty nice AMC big block in it with Jeep markings on the valve covers.

I remember it being on clearance for $13 or so, and I still passed on it. Not a whole lot of "extras" in that particular kit, and the particular box art and decals were less than enticing. Maybe Revell's just-as-easily found '66 Chevelle wagon has contributed to that lack of want, too.

Round 2 is aware of the "50 years" vs. "60 years" being the correct number for the Edsel kit...and apparently will correct the next run of the kit.

I'm not gonna defend them for bloopers like this, but like most hobby organizations, they run very, very fast with a very lean staffing approach.   That's what the hobby business supports these days.

I've certainly made "head slapper" mistakes like this; I suspect we all have at some point, particularly when we are moving really quickly under a very long "to do" list.

I vaguely seem to remember Dave Darby saying, that this version didn't include chrome tail light buckets (included in the original kit), leaving a large gap between the clear red lens and body.

Does anyone here know if this has been addressed?

Indeed, I had a "Homer" moment just yesterday :D

Ertl eliminated the bezels and tooled new, slightly larger red lenses when they reissued the kit.  The new lenses are too large for the original bezels, but are a sloppy fit in the holes.  Maybe add some Evergreen strip stock around the perimeter of the lenses as trim, then foil them.

As long as the plastic is in the box, that's the important thing.   Now the "investors" will have a new "rare collectible" they can foist on the gullible.
