Tomorrow morning I am going to take my drivers test. I got my learners permit last year and now I will be doing the road test so that I can drive alone. (I am very nervous)

Good luck Cale!

I can't say that I know how a drivers test is conducted in BC, but mine, nearly 40 years ago in Minnesota, wasn't too bad.

As long as you don't make any major mistakes, you should do fine.

If I recall correctly, the most difficult part of the test when I took it was parallel parking!

Just relax & remember that it's not the end of the world if you don't make it.

You can always retake the test.

I am confident that you will do just fine! B)

Best of luck, be calm, listen to the questions and concentrate on driving and road conditions (as you should). I am sure you will do fine.

Cale, if you know the rules of the road and you have done some driving with your learner's permit (and you survived so far), you'll do fine.

After my test was over my instructor told me that I drove like a cowboy and that I should take it easy and go slower! I'll never forget that. I still passed it and got my license. :D

Did you tell your instructor that you we're going to be one of the Duke boys? Yeehah!

LOL! No way!  I quietly accepted his advice. If I was cheeky and talked back, he could have still failed me.  I wanted my license!

Thanks guys for all the support.

That’s a good one. My brother told me that I should ask the instructor to sit in the back and say that god is my co-pilot. Or I could tell the instructor that I need practice for racing season.

That's OK.  Gives you 2weeks to study up.  Road signs are probably the worst part.

Yeah I was good with almost everything but I missed one stop sign and that was an instant fail.

The important thing is to learn from your mistake. Ask yourself why you missed the sign so you can avoid that mistake. As a new driver there is a lot going on that requires your full attention.

When parallel parking, pull the end of your hood/grill,lined with the other cars front  door, roll back slowly, and then cut the wheel to the left, then slide in behind the car,cut it to the right a bit, straighten the car,and pull up slowly behind the car,but leaving you enough room to pull out without damaging your car,and the other person's vehicle....I think that's right....Lol.No really good luck, and don't move that car unless yours, and the instructors seatbelts are on.You'll pass.Man I've been driven now for about 35,36 years..Wow.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out. Stop signs really mean stop. Complete stop, even if just for an instant.

Hopefully you did learn from your mistake. But don't worry, many long-time drivers out there roll through Stop signs.  That is one of the things that irk me (should post this in the other thread).  I almost got in a fight with the driver behind me because I dared to completely stop st the stop sign, even though there was no cross traffic. The nitwit behind me expected me to roll right through and got really pissy when I came to complete stop, forcing him to jam on his brakes.  Imagine that - actually stopping at a stop sign.

Well guys I failed the test. I will be able to take it again in 14 days.

It's ok cale you'll get it it done! I had to take mine 3 times because of bad habits I'd been on the road for awhile without a license, first time couldn't parallel park park,(1970 f250 no power steering) 2nd time speeding. Good luck next time.

Got my first license to drive unsupervised when I was 14.  It was a permit to drive to and from school and school events.  Had to pass the regular driving license.  When you turned 16, if you had no violations you just went down and paid a couple of bucks and they issued you a regular license.  Trust me, you will be just fine.  Don't overthink it!

Oh, and buy the way, there are a bunch of us on this site that are getting to the point we will have to test every couple of years to prove we still have our wits about us and can drive safely!;)

One thing about Kansas is all they really worry about is the revenue. I have lived here since the summer of '96 and only had to take the test the first time. Since then they just send me a notice and they take a fresh picture and collect the cash. I'm approaching 3/4's of a century into this life and they don't seem the least bit concerned as long as I have the renewal fee.

I grew up in western Nebraska so I know of what you talk about.  However we have a bit more traffic in SoCal and I understand the need to have safety checks.  The licensing of seniors is progressive.  I have a 90 year old friend who is still driving, but is severely restricted. to daytime, local roads. That is mostly due to his vision deterioration.  He has to go in annually for a driving test.
