Can-Con Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 (edited) Haven't been able to work on anything since the flood back in May so I thought I'd post up one of my older builds for those who haven't seen it before. I picked this up on my first trip to NNL East back in 2004 or 2005. It was converted to be used as a slot car and had large holes in the sides to mount the racing chassis. Now a simple curbside. Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast blue with a sand beige to orange-gold fade. The pinstrip between the blue and gold was applied by hand with a small stripping brush. I doubt I could do that again. Pegasus wheels and tires. Although quite simple, it's still one of my favorite builds. IIRC, this car made an appearance in some contest coverage in SA. Edited November 24, 2018 by Can-Con
bbowser Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Outstanding paint work! I really like this.
espo Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 That is very clean looking. I like how you eliminated most of the badges and small chrome bits and to my eye that really cleans up the look. Great colors that work well together. I would never have thought to put these together but they work well and a perfect finish on the paint.
Koellefornia Kid Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Cooool! I love the continentals of the 60s and this is a very nice example! Great paint job!
Snake45 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Very clean! I'm not a Lincoln fan but I kinda like this one.
Belugawrx Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Looks Great Steve Love the side panel fade, a beautiful clean build... The only thing I would change, would be the wheels. Cheers
TooOld Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Beautiful ! I can remember being steady enough to pinstripe like that . . . many years ago .
Chuck Most Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I think I remember seeing the rebuild of this one- or maybe the original finished photos where you mentioned it's slot car origins. They way things are going I wonder if this will ever be reissued, or at the very least if the '69 version will make a comeback.
Bucky Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 A real beauty! I'm liking the fade paintjob down the sides. Well done on this one!!
RAMBENNA Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 fabulous build looks great love the colors

I don't think it was butchered into anything else.
