Tukkerdax Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Hello, a few weeks ago I finished this diorama. With this I won a first prize during a contest here in Holland It represents a flour factory from Hayden with in front an el camino 1968 from AMT I hope you enjoy it... Greet Eric van Wanrooij
shoopdog Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) Outstanding work you've done on both the El Camino and the flour mill. Very impressive! Edited December 11, 2018 by shoopdog
Gramps46 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Congratulations and well deserved. It has very impressive details all over the place.
Rob Hall Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Neat diorama...lots of neat details. I used to the drive by the Hayden Flour Mill in Tempe, AZ everyday when I worked in Tempe.
Eshaver Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Everything about this Vignette shows the RIGHT elements !!!!
Renegade Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Great patina and vinyl top. Mill looks great too.

Yeah, it's stood empty for a long time on the busiest retail street (Mill Avenue) in downtown Tempe. Lots of new development has been going on around it. Sounds like there is a plan to re-develop it into a hotel w/ restaurant and retail space.
TarheelRick Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Outstanding work. Really like the stucco look on the building walls, and that El Camino definitely needs a bit of TLC.
Foxer Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Beautiful job on it all. I'm assuming the roof is based on the real mill. Never seen a roof sloped like this in my whole career as a structural engineer.
Jantrix Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 This is a really tremendous piece. Every detail is spot on.
Russell C Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Amazingly realistic! Particularly entertaining because I could probably see the actual mill building from here if the trees and buildings weren't in the way. Biked across the new dam earlier this year, a glass jungle is rising around the mill these days.
89AKurt Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Wow, I'm really impressed! Love the color for the El Camino. The vine is a nice touch, delicate. The fact you live in the Netherlands, and have done something in Arizona, blows me away! Now, the drive back to Indiana with that load, hope it didn't rain!

Also worked further down Mill and over off University.
GlueTube Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Well done Sir! What did you use to replicate the stucco wall finish? Regards Brian Kroon
Anglia105E Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Eric...... the closer you get to look at this diorama, the more detail you can see. Well deserved first prize, and as another member commented, to produce such a good diorama of a real place in Arizona USA from your home country of Holland is not an easy thing to do. David

Regards Brian Kroon Thanks Brian, in fact it's the basical structure of the blue styreen plate itself... I only put 2 layers of acrylic paint on it mixed with a little bit very fine sand.
