THarrison351 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 The Wix 67 GTO is an Icon if I remember correctly. I have the University of Racing 1966 Royal Bobcat Pontiac GTO. They're very nice!

Snake45 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Bought the Jada '71 GTO at Walmart. It looked JUST marginally good enough to follow me home. We'll see if I can wrestle it to the ground and make it my you-know-what.

I couldn't believe you could get 1/24 scale cars with such nice detail for $19.99. This is release 74. The quality control has been kind of lax in the last year or two. This one has some flaws that I couldn't see while it was boxed. I'll try to correct them if I can. It's different from my other Boss 302s in color and no Shaker scoop. Very sharp!

Should look okay on the shelf next to this Maisto '69 Firebird I'm in the process of wrapping up (hopefully today).

Back in the day we were told that hoods were paint a flat color to help stop sun glare. That might be just an old tale I was told. Better than nothing. LOL
NYLIBUD Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Yea that’s what I thought. To cut down on the sun glare.

I find it interesting that these DM "collectibles" can be had for far less than the original price even though they are no longer produced.

In particular the model T's, and their wheels. I grew up with them and have a couple of the Hubley kits to build.
Flat32 Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Got a DM 1931 Model A phaeton with real nifty wire wheels and black wall tires. I like them better than the coupe's white walls.
Sam I Am Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 That is a thing of beauty ! My dad put together Model T's and A's and as a kid I wrenched on them. While dad preferred building them stock, we had a sweet '17 Speedster and a '30 PU with a 32 grille/radiator and flathead 60. ?

Can we have before and after pictures please? (In re Jada '71 GTO): Am wrapping up the Snake-Fu on it now. Pics up in next few days, I hope. Turns out it was black, not dark blue. The wheelbase scales it to just a hair over 1/24 (1/23.7, or something). It would be extremely difficult to take all the way back to stock, but I've seen many 1:1 cars (SEMA queens and such) that are more radically modified/customized/reshaped. It won't appeal to everyone, but I'm kinda digging it.
57peppershaker Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Ive had a few 1:64's arrive this week. Greenlight Dodge Ram sport & a Jada Big Time muscle CHP Camaro. This will sit with the Jada CHP 57 Chevy I bought when 1st issued 15 years ago. Also pack of Herpa 1:87 semi wheels n tyres that are just right for 1:64 Duallys. Also the exclusive colour blue Silverado has now been lowered and side steps removed. A bed cover will be added.
randyc Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 While I didn't really get this recently, there were a lot of GT40s shown recently and I took a few pics of this one to add to the mix. 1/43 from Universal Hobbies (Eagle's Race probably). Outer box is long gone. But it lives safely in it's little case.
57peppershaker Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Oh and a HW Dodge Ram fitted with the 1:87 semi wheels
Sam I Am Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 When I asked Flat32 about pics of his Model T, he insisted on sending it to me. It needs a little TLC but wow is this thing cool ! Thanks to Ray, I have a DM 1925 Model T Roadster. ?
randyc Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Yup, that's cool. Once I got into the Mint cars, I was impressed with most every car. And occasionally shake my head when they do something weird. But just imaging back in the day the assembly line to creat these things. especially to later ones with the superdetails. We wonder how to make something or how to do wsomething and someone was cranking these out daily.

Flat32 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 My Danbury Mint buying binge has ended with last four expected to deliver today. I limited focus to 1925 to 1935 mostly Fords. Only one Holy Grail model that I'd like to get. These models are not common in plastic kit form and generally not popular subjects on this forum but they sure are nice. Photo is the one I don't have.
Gramps46 Posted March 12, 2020 Author Posted March 12, 2020 Today is a Franklin Mint 1940 Ford Pickup in my prewar pickup truck series. Very plain jane just like the 1:1 pickup was. I bought it knowing the review mirror was broken off but did not know about the rash on the front fender and hood, not too bad fortunately. I may try to pop the yellowed headlamps and replace them.
