iamsuperdan Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Heard the news an hour ago that Neil Peart from Rush dies on Tuesday. Three year fight with brain cancer. Sucks. That's what got my dad in March.

Rob Hall Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Been a Rush fan since high school in the 80s...glad I got to see them about 15 years ago at Red Rocks in Colorado...just incredible live. RIP Neil.
bismarck Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Saw RUSH live in Pittsburgh on they’re “Roll The Bones” tour. RIP Neil. ?
webestang Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 RIP my drummer brother. Always wished I could play the drums a tenth as good as he was............
Straightliner59 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Rush has been my favorite band since 1977. Saw them 13 times, the first in May, 1978 at the Auditorium Arena in Denver. They are the closest thing to a religion, in my life, for most of my life. Much of that waas due to Neil's lyrics. They simply spoke to me. I was fine with their retirement. They earned it. This is a heartbreaking blow, for me.
89AKurt Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Always loved Rush. I got a couple of their new releases, cassette tapes, which should date me. I've done Red Barchetta and Trees at karaoke, trashes my throat. ? RIP
Joe Handley Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Just read this in the comments on YouTube for the Ozzy and Elton John collaboration, took me by surprise!
Belugawrx Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Shocked the heck out of me today.. Neil was a customer of ours in the Hardware store we used to own downtown..always came in at Christmas to shop with his wife..sad day
1930fordpickup Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 The big gig in the sky just got one heck of a drummer.
NYLIBUD Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Oh man, that just sucks. One of the best ,if not the best drummers in the world..RIP Neil????????Loved Rush.
TonyK Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 What a shock! Had no idea about his health. Can still remember buying Fly by Night album and 8-track to listen in my car back in high school.
tbill Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Wow, he seemed like a genuine guy, not at all changed by fame and fortune , another great one gone....
BaBaBooey Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Great band, great drummer. At least he got to be there for the induction of Rush in RnR Hall of Fame. So many get in posthumously. Sad day in the rock world.
slusher Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Great band and great drummer! May he Rest In Peace.....

I'd run into him at Mini Grid when their shop was in Unionville Ont. He was into 1/43rd kits. Nice guy and loved to talk about building. Loved his music and his mad skills at drumming. RIP Neil.

I remember reading somewhere Neil talking about how he used to carry a small case with him on the road, that had some tools and supplies, so that he could build. I don't recall him saying what time period that was, but, I assume it was before he began riding bicycles, then motorcycles, between gigs. Very cool that you got to meet him, and chat with him about models!
drummerdad Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 He was one of the greats. He also inspired many of the other greats that play today.
