Warren D Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Calling this one done. Cab and chassis from AITM, trailer from AMT. Crane from Italeri, front drive axle from KFS, logs from the back yard. Lots of extra parts. KFS front drive axle had to be narrowed (1/24 scale). Grapple on crane from scratch. Weathering is a variety of acrylic washes, chalks and airbrush. Rust is the salt method, tried the baking soda method for the mud but didn't like it so I created my own mix using acrylic craft paint ($0.99 per bottle!), water, acrylic gloss and fine sawdust. Probably the most involved build to date, first one with weathering. Overall, I like the result.....
landman Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 You nailed this one right down to the Bunyan appellation. ?
Tankman Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Great job Warren, The Mack B-81 is one of my favorite rigs . I can hear it now in low gear crawling of the mountain.
TECHMAN Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 ??? Exceptional job on the build!!!! The weathering is very realistic!!! DJ
Warren D Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 Thanks for the kind words, I was wonder how long it would take for someone to get the Bunyan reference. Had to put something on the front guard and it seemed to fit.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Beautiful build of a great subject! A real work horse! The mud is very convincing!! Great work!!

tbill Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 You nailed the look, and those tire chains really sell it, great build.
Hermann Kersten Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Fantastic model, the weathering looks real. The small details complete the whole picture. Hermann.

redneckrigger Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Absolutely incredible old Mack! Have a soft spot for old dogs, and you hit this one out of the park! Love the details, the chains, the grapple, and the weathering! Beautiful!
Bills72sj Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Fantastic job on the muddin'. Very realistic.
gatorincebu Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Warren, Wow ! Like you really nailed this one . I like the whole overall look and you weathering looks good as well. Though I have to say as an observation. That crane might not be up to the task! It still looks good . Be Well Gator
stenfalk Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Looks extremely powerful, a real heavy-worker. The detailing is awesome and the pollution looks very lively, like after a day at work in the forest.
