JollySipper
What brand of snack cake do you guys prefer? I'm a Little Debbie person myself....... especially the fudge rounds and oatmeal creme pies! (This is the best forum anywhere........ thank you for being such a great bunch of people)
peteski
Aren't both brands made by the same company nowadays?
Little Timmy
Anything is better than ,"Tastycake" !!! They taste like chemicals..... not associated with cake @ I use to go bonkers for the Dolly Madisen "Razpberry Zinggers" now made by Hostess. But since the " re-organization " their just not the same. Little Debbie does make some good stuff. Their Zebra cakes are my favorite. Snake45
Hostess, definitely. But I'll eat Little Debbie too. Tastycake's okay but I can't recall ever buying one if a Hostess product was available. But the best ever was the old Banana Flips, sadly, no longer made. I forget who made them. I miss them terribly. They were like a Twinkie cake taco overfilled with banana-flavored Twinkie spooge. YUM!
SfanGoch
Drake's fruit pies, Yodels, Devil Dogs, Ring Dings and Funny Bones. When I was a kid, we'd wash them down with Chocolate Cow. Forum members of a certain age who are/were NY'ers will remember this:
StevenGuthmiller
Used to be Hostess. Not so much anymore. They've gotten too expensive, and they don't taste the same as they used to. I used to really like "Suzy-Q's" While we're on this subject, was anyone else as disappointed and disgusted as I was when Nabisco changed their "Pinwheel Cookies"? What a travesty that was!! I loved those since I was just a kid, and then out of the blue, they changed them from a chocolate cookie with marshmallow and dark chocolate coating, to a vanilla cookie with milk chocolate coating! Haven't bought one since! Steve
Ace-Garageguy
Only pic I found of a chick even obliquely related to the Hostess line is surely unsuitable for a "family" forum, and is way hotter than Little Debbie... ...so I guess I'll have to go Hostess for my choice of favorite sugar-flour-and-lard snacks. Remember boys and girls: you are what you eat. Edited March 26, 2020 by Ace-Garageguy
JollySipper
I'll give Hostess this.... They make an apple turnover that comes in a green and white wax paper wrapper that's really awesome. Did you guys know that Little Debbie was an actual person? 38 minutes ago, SfanGoch said: When I was a kid, we'd wash them down with Chocolate Cow You ever have a Yoo-Hoo, Joe? They aren't actually milk, just a chocolate drink..... The ones in the half-gallon carton are the best!
SfanGoch
Love Yoo Hoo. Just the thing to go with a dirty water dog off the wagon. Believe it or not, TJ, Yoo Hoo, HQ'ed in Carlstadt, NJ, bought out Chocolate Cow in the early '80s because it was a direct competitor. HomerS
Little Debbie Peanut Butter Creme Pies...... I was allergic to dark chocolate as a kid (I could have white chocolate). I've outgrown the allergy but have no taste for it. It's one of the few treats without chocolate.

And don't even waste your time/money with the "low fat" Twinkies. 8 hours ago, Roadrunner said: Then I must be a Banana Twinkie. I tried them when I found you couldn't get Banana Flips anymore. A very pale, weak substitute, not satisfactory at all. It is so very sad.
TarheelRick
I must admit I am addicted to Little Debbie's oatmeal cookies. The cream filling is the best and those cookies are just the right texture and moistness. Our local Dollar General has them 2 for $1, back when I was working (before the quarantine) I would stop by there almost everyday and splurge a $1. Recently the oatmeal cookies were in short supply so I would buy the Little Debbie's chocolate fudge coated coconut bars, again 2 for $1. One of my favorite dishes?......Coconut shrimp! We probably shouldn't be talking about "disgusting" in a thread dedicated to Hostess and Little Debbie snacks! We may think they taste good, but there is nothing about them that actually resembles "food". When you think about it, they're pretty disgusting all by themselves. I've baked a few cakes in my time, and I don't remember adding all of this garbage. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a cupcake recipe, or how to create a scrub sponge!
