leafsprings Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) Just needs a few more details, but here it is. Thanks again to Moebius for offering this series of Fords. Edited April 15, 2020 by leafsprings 3
DrKerry Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 (edited) Very kool!! Brings back memories of the old trucks that we used to see!! Great build! Edited April 15, 2020 by DrKerry
bill lanfear Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Excellent work Tom!, right down to broom! This brings back memories of when I was in the towing business and spent many hours sweeping debris ( and other things) off the highway after securing the vehicle. Nice details and you nailed the look of that "clean" wrecker that dealerships had around their service centers.
mikemodeler Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 That looks great Tom! Is that the wrecker bed from MCRC or the old Midnite Cowboy bed? Great details and spot on replica.
leafsprings Posted April 17, 2020 Author Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the compliments! Used the midnite cowboy kit for the wrecker bed and the side panels were re shaped to increase the wheelbase. New photos with flash. Paint is a factory color Candy Apple Red. AmericanMuscleFan Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Very nice Tow Truck! Very realistic, well detailed and clean build! Great job Tommy!!!
Tom Geiger Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Great truck! I’m gonna have to put one of my Moebius pickups on the bench soon! BTW.. you guys know that decal references to Burket Ford, Burket Construction etc are for Dave Burket, aka. The Model King. Dave was instrumental in the ideas and execution of this series as well as financing some of the tooling.
mchook Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Great looking wrecker. I like that you changed the wheel wells, it makes all the difference in the world.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Excellent build!! I spent many a hour in a 69 very similar to this one. As a matter of fact, I was rear ended by a couple of high school girls one morning on their way to school. My head hit the back window so hard that it knocked it out of the rubber, but didn't break the glass. I hope to build a replica of that truck some day too. Excellent work on this one!! The modified bed sides made a big difference in the look of this one. Edited April 24, 2020 by DRIPTROIT 71
kilrathy10 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Killer model, Bro... I'm really liking what you've done with this truck... Excellent work....

spiderx Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 (edited) leafsprings, I was curious to know which model kit you used to make this wrecker? Was it this one? https://www.amazon.com/Moebius-Models-F-100-Custom-Pickup/dp/B07FXVXSJ9 I was currently searching for a model that could help me achieve a replica of my grandfathers old 70's wrecker that he had. I was excited to see your photos when I did a search the other day. I also see you have used the midnite cowboy kit for the rear section. I was curious where you got the spud wheels from? I realize this is an old thread but was seeking some help and knowledge to get my project going for a memorial of my grandfather who owned his own junkyard back in the 70's. Here is the only photo of his one wrecker he had that I have to go off of. I have wanted a model of this since I was a child over 40 years now. I know the back part was a holmes. I would be so grateful if anyone can share some knowledge or info to help me along. Thanks BTW Awesome job on your tow truck. It gets me hope and inspiration. BTW Edited February 28, 2021 by spiderx
stavanzer Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Spiderx, did you ever start that Tow Truck Project? I'd really like to see how it is coming, if you did.
Ulf Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Fantastic build, which kit or which resin caster do the wheels come from ?
leafsprings Posted August 11, 2022 Author Posted August 11, 2022 Thankyou for the compliment, Ulf. Wheels and tires were from Scenes Unlimited. Danny has a very good line of dually wheels for all size trucks.
