After taking the summer off, I decided I needed to do a real quick build to get myself motivated again. I figured I would pick a model that I really wasn’t too enamoured with so I could bang it out quickly... no wiring, no corrections, no worrying about flaws, minimal sanding. Just slap some paint on and glue it together...So I picked the Revell ‘68 Charger special edition. The first thing I notice is the remains of vinyl roof trim...Well that has to go! And all those mold lines too. Now I’m thinking a vinyl top might look good? And I’ve got some other wheels I’d like to use...sigh.?

LOL. Working on an old AMT 1:43 '69 Torino now for that very reason. It's a nice little kit, but I am going a little overboard on chassis paint details. Good luck!

I think that I may outsource the BMF on the window moldings and wheel lips to Hawley, Minnesota. Or use a Sharpie.

Sorry, I don't take requests. :D

Steve

Wanna see you foil a 1:43 :D. It's only a Torino, not like it's a '58 Buick or anything.

Ha!  That's interesting. I decided to do just that over Labor Day weekend. Build a simple box stock (pretty much) kit. I chose a simple kit, the reissue of the AMT Cyclone altered wheelbase drag car re-badged with Dyno Don Nicholson. I got it all but final assembly in three days. I futzed with some detail painting (minimal) this week and will assemble this weekend. It feels good to just do a quick build....I haven't done that in a long time. -RRR

I’ve had this AMT slammer on or around my bench for 18 months now.  This too was meant to be a quick simple build...and I’m determined to just give it a nice paint-job and put it on the shelf.

Problem is I’ve painted it four times already and still not got it QUITE right ?.  Got a plan for try number 5 here tho...

You, me and a bunch of others! I couldn't put two Legos together without turning it into a project. icon_eyes.gif.029973ea39c8f081f61ab0ef315e926a.gif

Reminds me of my youth, me and my cousin had went to a model car show and I made the comment at home later that night "ain't no show model" while we were building and to this day we will still say that and it makes a laugh. Just build is what I need or must remember.

If you want a simple build, pick out a simple model like a snap kit or curbside. You can even turn a detailed model into a curbside. I built this model from a $5 Wal Mart toy.

I learned a long time ago that every model I build doesn't have to be a show piece or impress others. It just has to make me happy. It's OK to just sit down and have fun with a model. Some of my most simple builds are my favorites.

1:43 is easy!  I built and foiled this Testor's Beetle (metal kit) years ago.

A little mode difficult was this 1:87 (H0 scale) '56 Ford Crown Vic.  I believe it was a WIlliams Bros. kit.  It was an interesting tiny kit.  It was molded all in clear styrene (including the wheels), so I basically had to paint or foil everything that was not "glass".  The body was fairly thick, so the "glass"  distorts a bit, but not too bad for such a small model.

I would expect this level of detail from you. I just recently saw that your '57 Chevy "cover model" isn't the 1/25th scale AMT kit. Simply amazing work!

Thank you Steve!
Yes, that '57 Chevy is a very nice Gunze Sangyo kit, in 1:32 scale.  BMF rules!  :)

I hear you Greg, The black spider Camaro in the WIP drag section was to be a simple tare down and basic build. You can see how that went! LOL Hang in there!

Thanks. I’ve committed to putting a vinyl roof on it already.?
So I started a WIP thread on it.
