Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 This is my version of the Melrose Missile factory Plymouth and Thunderbolt converted match racer. I used two complete Thunderbolt kits to make the altered wheelbase with stretched rear wheel openings. 3
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 This is my match race version of a 1964 Comet. The chassis and engine are a Thunderbolt kit with a tunnel ram added to the 427 FE engine. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 This a resin 1965 Chevelle altered wheelbase body mounted to a cutdown Revell Chevelle Z-16 kit. The headers and traction bars are my favorite part of this match racer. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 I can't get enough of these Moebius altered wheelbase kits. This is one of my favorite match race cars, the Fenner Tubbs Plymouth. This one is supercharged with the engine moved back 8 inches. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 For this model, I took the Moebius standard wheelbase Plymouth kit and a Johan Dodge body. The wheelbase was created by moving the K-member forward 5 inches. 2
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 One of my favorites, I took the standard Moebius Comet kit and cut the chassis to move the engine back 28 inches. I used the doghouse from a funny car kit to mimic Jack Chrisman's Comet. 3
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Another Moebius altered wheelbase kit built for the Sox & Martin team. This one has the blue tipped injectors and the striped Jere Stahl headers. 3
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 Not much room to alter the wheelbase on a Corvette, but I did slide the front axle forward on this one. 3
Altered Ego Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 One of my favorites. I took a Model King altered wheelbase Falcon body and mated it to a cut down Moebius Comet chassis. The engine is the FE from a Thunderbolt kit. 2

Bainford Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Great collection. Very cool work. There’s an entire weekend’s worth of racing there.
majel Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 (edited) Great group of models! My first car was a 1964 Comet, needless to say it didn't look anything like your model! Edited December 22, 2020 by majel
TransAmMike Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 All great stuff Jeff!! The real cars in competition against each other would be an awesome show.
Altered Ego Posted December 30, 2020 Author Posted December 30, 2020 Thanks to mredjr for helping me with the parts needed to finish this one. This is Don Nicholson's altered wheelbase version of his 1965 Comet Cyclone. Built with Moebius' Nicholson Comet with the rear axle moved forward 18".
Snake45 Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Some very cool stuff here! I especially like the S&M '65. I'm planning to build one of those myself; thanks for the inspiration! Model on!
