The Brush Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Hi. Here`s another older build of mine. I bought this Ertl transtar II off an auction site stripped it down & rebuilt it as a 4070 with weedburner exhausts, The trailer is made from perspex covered in thin aluminium sheet with an AMT bogie. The decals are all homemade.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Awesome looking build! Great job on the conversion. A lot of differences that sometimes go unnoticed like the door hinges. I hope to do a 4000 myself some day. I like the short wheel base and the breather set up that you chose. The exhaust is interesting. I’ve only seen one truck in real life that had it ran all the way out the back like that. Most stop behind the cab. Very unique. The weathering looks awesome! Great job all around!
leafsprings Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Very impressive work on this combo! You nailed the look of a million mile fleet truck from the golden age of trucking. Exhaust, intake and oil filters takes this IH to the next level.
TarheelRick Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Beautiful rig. The weathering and the worn tires show plenty of road miles. I well remember McClean Trucking, I live just a few miles from their homebase of Winston-Salem.
gotnitro? Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Outstanding build. ! The weathering really shows off the miles on this fleet truck You even wired the roof ac very nice
vincen47 Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Lots of details to admire. Great inspiration for the new 4070A that will be coming out.
doorsovdoon Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Very nicely built, the weathering and detail is outstanding! I could look at pictures of builds like this for hours.
Chariots of Fire Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 What excellent work! Beautifully finished to look faded but well taken care of. That's not easy to accomplish without some practice.
Russell C Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 If it weren't for the base and background sheet, we could be fooled into thinking these were photos of the 1:1 rig!
hct728(Bob) Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 So very realistic! You must be very familiar with the subject to go to this level of added features and detail. All replicated and weathered! Amazing how you did the trailer, sections of aluminum foil over plastic to great effect, pretty creative!
gdd0803@yahoo.com Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 WOW ! outstanding build and weathering !Thank you your sharing your build
1959scudetto Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Simply fantastic - with another background it could go for the real thing ! Road grime, dirt, dust and diesel fuel - and above all theworn-out, bleached color of this rig - great work! I will save the pics as inspiration for my own kit.
