Modlbldr Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) Taking part in the 24 hr build off with this kit. I'm 3 1/2 hrs in and got paint drying on most of my parts. Got the interior tin together and the tires and wheels together. More coming soon. Later- Edited January 31, 2021 by Modlbldr 1
Modlbldr Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Update- 6 1/2 hrs in. Got pretty much everything painted with the exception of detail painting certain parts. My body still needs a coat to cover a bit of area I had to clean up. I have most of the chassis done and half the engine completed. Later- 1
AMT68 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Nice. Always wondered what a built version of this one looked like.

Generous flash and vague instruction call outs. But it is a fun build. Right now I have it up on wheels and have minimal touch up painting to do. Waiting on a light clear coat on the body to dry in the dehydrator so I can decal the body. Later- 1
Modlbldr Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Got the body cleared and getting ready to start the decals. Paint is Testors Fiery Orange. Later- 1
Misha Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 That’s great progress Tom, I’ll be following.... Cheers Misha
Spottedlaurel Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Looking great so far. With the rollcage, decals etc I'd put this as quite a challenge to do in 24hrs, but you seem to be making very good progress.

Thanks Nigel! 3 hours ago, Misha said: That’s great progress Tom, I’ll be following.... Cheers Misha Thanks Misha! 14 1/2 hrs in. I got the decals all placed and a first coat of clear over them. Not much left now but to install the windows and inner tin and chrome the window trim (going to use silver Sharpie) I should be able to get some sleep after another coat of clear. Later- Edited January 31, 2021 by Modlbldr

Rockford Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 24hrs to build a kit, and do such a good job of it too! That's quite an endeavour. I can't seem to build a car in 24 months! You're doing a blistering job there!
Sam I Am Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 No wonder I couldn't find it, it isn't in the drag section. ? Great job Tom !
misterNNL Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 at this rate you could build 1 model a day for a year and have a display case full ?
Belugawrx Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Nice job on the paint and decals Tom,...not much left now !
Modlbldr Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Good morning everyone! Back at it. I got the chrome trim done with the Sharpie and the grill glued in. I am currently gluing the glass in and then the rear bumper and I'm done. Later-
Modlbldr Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Update: 23 hrs (6 of that sleeping) and I am finished! The amazing thing to me is this build looks nicer than the 67 Mercury Comet drag that took me a month to build. Here it is. Paint is Testors Fiery Orange for the body and Testors Purple-Licious for the frame. Later- 1
Spottedlaurel Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Well done! The finished result really doesn't look like it was started and finished in under a day.
Modlbldr Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 Thank you very much guys! I had a lot of fun doing this build-off and look forward to doing another in the future. Later-
tbill Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Great job , you’d never guess that was a 24hr build . Came out great!
