Dug out this stalled build which was started in 2013. At that time, adapted the wheels, set the ride height and got all the parts cleaned up and that's when I stopped working on it. Got the body out last year for prep and a coat of surfacer, then stopped working on it again. This time im going to try get it complete.

The kit.

As per usual my favourite wheels.

Parts are all good to go, just need a wash and then paint. Makes me laugh they have been in this container for 8 years.

Box stock chassis.

Separated the x part of the frame so the join line could be cleaned up properly. Reason for that will come about later.

Modified the oob inlet manifold to have a dual carb set up.

And a surfacer wheel mock.

Got some nice warm summer days all week, so fingers crossed I can get the usual black paint applied.

Got the surfacer sanded ready for paint.

Very rare for me to use wet and dry sandpaper or polishing cloth's nowadays, I prefer to use these sanding sponges by Infini.

I am of the belief when doing black paint with no clear, that the finished paint will only be as good as the surface beneath it.

Got the paint applied couple hours ago.

Looks great!  I am considering Pegasus wheels for a build I’m planning. Do they work with the wheel back that come with the model kits?

Thanks.

Depends on the kit and how the oob wheels mount. And whether the back will fit inside Pegasus wheels. If it does drill out the centre of the back to suit.

I dont worry about it very often.

To fit the Pegasus wheels,  I replace kit axles with 2mm brass rod.

Using a 2mm drill open up the holes.

Then drill holes in the part where the kit wheels use to mount.

Can put the brass axle in the part or the wheels either way works.

Thanks.

Been meaning to post a paint mock, but got side tracked by a lot of other things.

Paint has well and truly shrunk back and settled. Has slight micro orange peel, but im not going to fuss over it. So it will stay as is, no clear, colour sanding or polishing will be needed with this build.

Applied some Alclad chrome to a few parts.

Also the Interior parts painted Tamiya TS-49 bright red, will apply the flat clear over coat at a later stage.

It's looking nice Luke! The paint looks excellent! I have one of these that I converted to a hardtop, lost interest and haven't looked at it again.
