Erik Smith Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) I get to drive a lot of rural roads, and I seem to always spy an old car or two or three. Today I was cruising through Emida, ID (Google map that) and spotted this old Mopar sitting by a barn. I’d love to know the stories behind so many of the cars I see. The “What did see ON the road thread” sometimes gets these cars thrown in, so let’s just leave this to cars that ain’t seen the road in some time. Edited March 5, 2021 by Erik Smith
iamsuperdan Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 A couple of years ago. This GMC 3100. I don't know...50? 51? Parked by an abandoned mine/museum. I need to get in the habit of taking more pictures.
gbdolfans Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Hi all, this caddy sits about 3 houses from us. The lady lives in NY and comes down once a year. The car belongs to her husband, who she divorced years ago. I don't know the year, but,it has an inspection sticker on it. 06/93. Yes it has sat there for 28 years. I have asked her about it and she is to attached to it, or just wants to make a killing. She said it was worth 20K, maybe fully restored??
MrObsessive Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Wow! That Caddy (a '73 Eldorado) could be a real gem if fixed up and on the road! I hate to see what could be a potentially sharp car just rotting away like that. Not sure she'd get 20k out of that......MAYBE half that and that's if the car will even run. Restoration parts for those beasts are NOT cheap.
Kromolly Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 1973 ElDorado I believe. In that condition you'd probably spend $40k to make a $20k car.

Have her watch a Mecum Auction on TV and see the look on her face when she sees what a really clean one goes for.
GLMFAA1 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 "Have her watch a Mecum Auction on TV and see the look on her face when she sees what a really clean one goes for." If you really want to see something funny set the close captioning on while watching a live auction, It can't keep up with the words and makes up words as the auctioneer is chanting. I regard to the caddie, what an upgrade for the varmints that have probably moved from the blazer behind it greg
Kromolly Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 One of these, '74 Dodge D600 1 1/2 ton flatbed dump... in my driveway but not on the road. Still earns his keep, ol' Ermer does.
AMT68 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) That '73 Eldorado needs to have been under a carport at a minimum all this time. From that picture it looks like a pretty solid car despite the condition of the hood and missing bumper fillers. That must've been one of the first years those had body colored wheel covers. Scott Colmer Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 In a shed. The body The fiberglass hood in the back.
Captain Spaulding Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Not today but came across this last fall on some property close to my cousin's place. 50s GMC or Chevy truck. In rough shape, been sitting there a lot of years.
peteski Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 What you guys are doing here reminds me of the Car Spotter column in the Collectible Automobile Magazine.
