MarcoTJ Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Got this kit a few weeks ago. Went straight to the bench. It builds perfectly. Not sure of the accuracy or how it compares to the Fujimi kit. But it's sure great fun. Painted with car paints. Had the yellow gold made in the shop but had to add brown to the mix. Decals are OK. Slightly brittle. And again: the fit is wonderful. Hope you like it!? 2
bbowser Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Really nice work. Outstanding photography as well.
cobraman Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Looks fantastic ! I may have to get this one. I bought the large one so maybe this one would be good practice.
Venom Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) Hi Marco.... Nice clean work on this! I like that it has an engine unlike the Fujimi kit. I just recently built up the Fujimi version in the exact same livery, so its fun to see a different one. iBorg Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I wonder how long before someone swaps the Meng underpinnings with the Fujimi. Both build beautifully but to my eye, the Fujimi body shape looks more accurate.

David G. Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Beautifully Done! Paint and detailing are excellent as is your photography. David G.
Gramps46 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I am impressed with your build. I really like how you did the weathering on the exhaust pipes. I have been debating whether or not to get the Meng kit but you may have convinced me to order one.
Rich Chernosky Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Yep....you convinced me too....gotta have one now. Beautiful work and stunning photography.
iamsuperdan Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Your build looks excellent! If that goes together as well as Meng's other kits, then it will be fantastic.
Hi-Po Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Beautiful! Nice detail work all around. Great photography, also.
1959scudetto Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Outstanding work from you, Marco - and of course, your trademark photography: just perfect! But the body shape of this Meng Mk II doesn't convince me - roof and back look too rounded, a-pillars too wide, windows miss the sharp edges and the wheels look too small. Best of both worlds would probably be to combine the Fujimi Mk II with the drivetrain of the Meng kit
AlbertD Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Looks great. I'm building the Fujimi kit right now and it goes together pretty well. I don't know enough about these cars to judge body shape but they both look good to me.

Mine was a kit from the 80’s so I was worried the plastic had become brittle, and when I was puting the body on I thought it was going to crack or snap in two... Fortunately it did not, and when it clamped itself into place, it was like, “I ain’t ever gonna move again, so don’t even attempt it!” Edited August 22, 2021 by Venom 1

Phildaupho Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Great to see a full detail engine compartment in 1/24 in your very attractive GT40.

I managed to get the body on today without breaking anything. It sure was tight but once you bend and pull here and there it fits great. I just got the Men kit and will see how that goes. Based on what the OP said about the brittle decals I ordered a set from Indycals.
Mattilacken Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Nice to see one built! Are the headlights more rounded than the original? Some thing in that area looks different than usual to me.

And only go on after everything else is built. 1
