happy grumpy Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 This is the AMT FORD C600. Pretty much out of the box with a little weathering. Always liked that truck, it has a distinctive front end. When I was young (a century ago it seems) we would see these everywhere. That what is fun with this hobby you can bring them back and with them, lots of memories. 4
Kromolly Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Wow, that really looks neat. So realistic. Nice job on the weathering. I also remember a century ago when those trucks were everywhere. Seems like I blinked and all the vehicles of my youngish years disappeared.
steveracer Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Awesome! I love how you positioned and shot the model perfectly to look real! And that weathering - perhaps you can tell us more on what you used on that especially the front bumper. I just saw a real one ( I think it was real, hmmmm) this week doing some service work on trees or something on the side of the road. I slowed down to look at at and thought about this kit....
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Excellent build! Excellent weathering!! Excellent photography!! Excellent work all around!! It looks real!! 1
iamsuperdan Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Wow. It's a phrase that gets tossed around a lot here. "I thought I was looking at the real thing!" In this case though, 100% warranted. Especially your last picture. Excellent job.
Bainford Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Great job on the old Ford. Very authentic weathering. You captured the look of the old workhorse beautifully.
happy grumpy Posted October 14, 2021 Author Posted October 14, 2021 thank you all for your kind comments. Steve, For the bumper and cab I use the salt technique where you apply a base coat , usually different shades of brown, then wet the areas you want to rust with water and then loosely apply salt over these areas. then you apply a top coat, let it dry and rub the salt off. For the cube, I used artist's oil diluted and applied with a small brush to simulate rust around the rivets. Dan, I use my model photos as wallpapers at my work place and I often get that " I thought it was real " especially from people who don't anything about scale models.
grodudulle77 Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Wow !!! It’s hard to tell if this is a real truck or a model ! Outstanding work !!! ( model and pics ) ???
vincen47 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Like others have said, for a second I thought the second shot was a reference pic of the real thing. A testament to the accuracy of your build and your photography skills.
kilrathy10 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 That is a nice model... Excellent photography... Looks quite realistic... Beautiful...
doorsovdoon Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 wow, now that's nice. Love the weathering on that faded green paint, looks awesome! Looks like a truck that was popular here in the UK, the Bedford TK, still pretty common here in Wales, usually used as horseboxes.
1959scudetto Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Excellent replica of this old workhorse, Mariol - especially the 2nd picture (my wife thought it was a real one) - I admired this already standing beside your Transtar II.
David G. Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Another fabulous build Mario! The way you set up and shot the photos adds tremendously to the already realistic realism of your very convincing building and weathering skills. ? David G.
JerseeJerry55 Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Well done. I always have had an affinity for the CSeries (as well, and the Chevrolet counterpart) ever since I was a little kid. And it started with this which I received for Christmas around 1965/66ish(?). Marx Big Bruiser Ford tow truck. I am headed to NNL East this year, and will be looking for the CSeries in either the Hostess Straight truck, or Hostess semi combination.
Smitty Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Your weathering skills are really top shelf Mario. Great looking Ford, super authentic and real looking.
leafsprings Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Impressive work! How one would look after a couple of decades and a couple of hundred thousand miles, without ever having a wash or wax job!
OldTrucker Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 That is awesome! How did you do the air intake vents on the sides of the cab?
happy grumpy Posted January 30, 2022 Author Posted January 30, 2022 Thanks to all , 4 hours ago, OldTrucker said: That is awesome! How did you do the air intake vents on the sides of the cab? Johnny, You have a keen eye for details, not many people noticed that. A shame that AMT never fixed this, a simple decal would have been an improvement. I simply drilled out the vents and added very fine pieces of stretched sprue, a little black paint for shadows. Simple but effective. Nice catch BTW. regards,
