Here's a little something I picked up a while ago on feebay. It was butterscotch yellow and had a lot of excess glue on it. The chrome was not very nice either so I stripped the whole thing, cleaned it up and covered it in Matt Black. Yesterday I added the BMF and touched it up by brush and a Molotow chrome pen. I'll have to do the Alclad bumpers this spring when I can spray out in the shop again. NE Ohio winters or not favorable to such activity. I have the tail lights and will finish up the chassis later also. Just another one of the unfinished kits I'd like to wrap up soon....

I really dig the flat black on that, but I can’t help but wonder how it would look with gloss black bumpers and grill??

I have the same thought and since I need to use gloss black for the alclad, well…

Haha, I only mentioned it as you already had the chrome stripped, I really hope you post some pics with them in gloss black, even if you do decide to go chrome.

Nice restoration! Did you take any “before” pics you can post?

I vote for chrome bumpers. I know what you mean about the weather dictating painting activities. Even in So. Cal., I’m trying to get in all my gloss lacquer and clear coat paint jobs before colder temps arrive. Lacquer base coats, acrylics, enamels and even Alclad seem to be ok to spray in my garage workshop even when it chills down to the mid to high 50’s.

I agree with others that this early Comet looks really good in black. Wish Round 2 would/ could re-pop this kit.

Looks I bit nicer than I remember, this was as I cleaned it up before disassembly. I do remember it was brush painted!

That's gonna look great when you're finished !  I really like the black primer with those wheels , but no black on the bumpers . . . chrome please !

Nice rescue, everything looks great!

I'd go Alclad for chrome for the grille and bumpers. It would be a good contrast against the flat black.

I know what you mean about NE Ohio Winters, I grew up in the Youngstown area.  The sun seems to take bankers hours this time of year, it's only out from 9AM to 4 PM.
