larman Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Ok, I'm still not done, but not giving up yet either! The car has changed yet again. The original body was a darker blue (as seen in previous posts) ,it had some mold line ghosting which I was not happy with, which was strike one. Then when I tried to apply the tail stripe decal it did not work and in the process of trying to remove it, I lifted a sizable chunk of paint from the trunk area. That body is now in scale model Valhalla and I was able to release a bit of misplaced aggression destroying it. I thought I was done, but as it turns out, I had a second older body, an original issue Monogram molded in blue. So, I was able to prep and paint the second body, this time in a lighter blue, which is what I originally wanted. I added the custom decals from the latest issue kit instead of the stock bumble bee strip that I had ruined on the other body. They are styled after the factory 1970 Super Bee stripes. I also decided to 86 the black steel wheels and replaced them with some resin American 5 spoke mags. The chassis still has the darker blue overspray, but I am not going to change that now. I am going to keep on going and try to get it done in time! 5
KWT Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I liked the last color, but I do believe I like this one more... nice job 1
Mattilacken Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I won’t make it! My messup with the decals wrinkles ended up I’m pulling the decals of. But they had bonded good to the paint due to the decal fluid I applied, so I need to sand them off. No time for that so I cal it and try to Finnish the build right in stead.
disconovaman Posted November 30, 2022 Author Posted November 30, 2022 I'm trying to have the Tow truck finished by tomorrow... I'm well on way to having it done so I'm hopeful. Lots of small details that's dragging on... Shown here is the frame stretched to fit the long bed stepside... Roll On!

disconovaman Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 ?✨️? I'm officially finished with the Cannonball Run Wrecker... here's a sneak peak of the finished build! Color photos to be added tomorrow! Building ends tomorrow Thursday Dec 1st. Thanks to everyone who participated... If you have a finished build to add to the 2022 YOB finished buid thread, be sure to post over there. Thanks. 1
Lunajammer Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I HATE not finishing, but that's what's going to happen for me this year. The '61 Ranchero was a great project that got stalled when the body paint got botched, which seldom happens to me. After that I never really returned to the bench so it will have to wait until I'm all jazzed up again. I like what I'm seeing among the rest of you scofflaws.

disconovaman Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 Here are some colorful photos of the CBR tow rig! enjoy... thanks for watching this build and the support! 2
Mattilacken Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 I got it ready to race at least no beauty contest winner! And yes it misses some parts, as mirrors and lenses. But it’s at least looking pressentable and on its wheels!!
tim08 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Had a heck of a time with the chrome. Got it done!
stinkybritches Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Just like last year, I didn't get mine done. Congrats to everyone that made the starting line.
spencer1984 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Great work guys, and congratulations to the finishers! The Thanksgiving weekend turned out to be busier than expected, so the Ferrari is still in parts, its body waiting for me in the paint booth and the rear wheels off to the side until I can figure out where I put those rear brakes... Anyway, looking forward to next year with the knowledge that I need to start early to get the momentum going!

disconovaman Posted December 3, 2022 Author Posted December 3, 2022 So Listen up guys, I've been thinking about this and it's weighing heavily on my heart. So I want send my sincere apologies to the following builders of this year's CBR... landman Oldmopars Just Jim Beans 89AKurt Dragonhawk1066 fivesuns These members had finished entries for the Cannonball Run Community build event but did not post in the finished builds thread. One of the rules is that we use that thread for the voting process... [- A few weeks prior I’ll start a completed builds thread, for posting up your work and we’ll work the poll from that thread. Take some GOOD PHOTOS! I cannot emphasize this enough, good photos are essential. No one has won this with crappy photos in poor lighting.- ] I implement these rules from the original CBR because it is effective. This helps the voters decide a winner for the event. I was distracted with finishing my build and I was unable to remind everyone who had not posted their entries before the poll was posted. For that, I'm truly sorry...I enlisted the help of WhiteRabbit and he was proactive in getting that done for us. I am grateful that he took the time to help out with this year's voting poll and the theme poll for 2023 as well. These Awesome builds should not go unnoticed and if you all were following along you know the amount of work and dedication that went into each of these projects. Technically we had 17 finished builds, an impressive number for my stint as moderator. I have grouped these Fabulous finished photos together as a reminder of how important it is to stay up-to-date on the build thread and the inpending deadline for future reference. Thanks for understanding and sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused... but there agian, I cannot stress enough of how important it is to read and remember all aspects of the competition. 1
Koellefornia Kid Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Too bad that the builds above are not included in the voting poll. Some of them really had 1st-place-potential! But after all, congratulations everyone who finished a build, you all are winners! 1
slusher Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 That’s terrible that there not included in the voting".. 1
