disconovaman
The Cannonball Run 2022 Your Birth Year! Welcome Cannonballers! The Cannonball Run Community is proud to present Year Of Birth! Welcome to the 15th Annual Cannonball Run Community build! In this year's Cannonball Run we're going back to the year you were born. We are paying tribute to the builders, and asking you to build A model representing the year you were born. DON'T WORRY were not gonna be checking driver's license for verification... ??? Your build will be all the proof we need. ? Presonly, I don't care how old I am, I just care about how old I want to be... 195 ? I've met people that are proud of how long they've made it on this planet! The Rules: Your build must represent the year you were born. I understand that some kits are either one year up or one year back and bodystyles sometimes didn't change for a decade or more. If that is the case, I ask that you'd build to represent your birth year as closely as possible. I am also aware that the new model years were out in September, so I'll make an exception if you wish to build a bodystyle change (If you were born in September or after) ? My main goal is to get folks interested in building for the CBR! 1. The build can be either a new or started kit up to 25% complete. A re-builder or parts box special is okay too. 1/24 or 1/25. If you absolutely must do a 1/20 model we’ll likely bend the rules as we have before, but that’s the limit. EXCEPTION TO RULE 1. If you have a previously started racer from a previous running of the Cannonball (SA or MCM) 50% complete or less, they are eligible to run this year as long as they meet the theme requirement. All of our previous runs are still available on either of the two forums. If you are going to do this, please be certain it was involved in a previous run. We will continue to implement this rule each year, as the goal of this CBP was always to get people building and finishing models. 2. Before starting please post a photo of your kit(s) or pile o’ parts. No limitation on type of vehicle or technology used. 3. The car must appear to be street legal. Headlights, tail lights, license plate etc. 4. If for any reason you plan a build and wish to declare another entry in place of, you may do so at any time prior to the 48hrs. deadline. 5. As always, have fun and watch out for two priests in a red Ferrari. That’s it for rules. The following is just FYI. - You may start a separate build thread for your build if you wish, but please keep the CBP thread updated. - Build time begins on January 1st, 2022, local time and ends at 11:59PM on December 1st, 2022, local time. That’s 11 months’ folks. - After the finish, we will create a poll and we’ll have the “race”, a public vote. - A few weeks prior I’ll start a completed builds thread, for posting up your work and we’ll work the poll from that thread. Take some GOOD PHOTOS! I cannot emphasize this enough, good photos are essential. No one has won this with crappy photos in poor lighting. - You may build as many models as you wish for this CBP but only one can be entered in the public voting poll after Dec. 2. - You can enter this CBP at any time up to 48 hours before the end date. A Special Thanks to FatBrian for initiating this year's Theme and voting poll. Edited December 10, 2021 by disconovaman
Jantrix
Before we get involved I'd like to thank Anthony for doing such an excellent job running this CBR the last several years. I'm very glad to have handed the reins to someone as passionate and involved as he is. Terrific work boss! And thanks also to Lunajammer, who has handled the poll every year for a long BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH time now. Lastly, I'd like to thank all of my fellow scofflaws, who have joined in this CBR year after year, alway bringing the very best quality and unique builds. You guys are the best.

Pat Minarick
Love the bus !!!. I'll be building a '66 Barracuda, not much of the kit will be used. Got a few pieces gathered up, hood scoops from the Duster kit, rims from '70 'Cuda, Fairlane rear wheel openings, and some parts from The Fireball 500 kit. disconovaman
2 hours ago, Pat Minarick said: Love the bus Thanks Pat, the art is from a local artist and one of my good friends, a huge influence on me, (And one of the reasons I got intrested in Art and model building). Jimmy Gray. He's also a member of the local model car club too. I've been knowing him for 35+ years. I thought the Bus would be fun to tie in with the YOB theme because by the time you were old enough to ride a bus you were probably thinking about cars, (specifically, older cars) atleast in my case. I was interested in cars from an early age. My dad bought a 67 Camaro when I was 4 (still has it) he had owned some really cool cars growing up. I've always thought about cars from the year I was born but nothing ever jumped out at me. I did own a 74 Nova and my brother had a 73 Camaro. The Barracuda is a nice selection, my friend (Jay Woodard) won the National Bracket finals in Pamona CA. with his 66 Plymouth in 2001. It was Awesome to see a small town Virginia boy win a national title.
Fat Brian
Here's my entry for 1981, it's technically a 79 but the first face lift for the Fox body was wasn't until 1983 so the 79-82 cars look pretty much the same. The plan is to use the Capri fenders from the red Revell body to make a widebody kit for the silver MPC body and then throw that on the chassis from the drag version of the 90 Revell notchback kit. I'm going to use the kit engine with a centrifugal supercharger for a little extra oomph and maybe a T56 six speed if I can spare one. 4mula1fan
I'm considering making an entry. I'll have to go dig around in my junk box and find my subject. A 58 Impala. Yeah, I know, I know....
MrObsessive
Interesting! My birthday is October of 1961, so I guess I could slip a '62 in there as they would have been barely hitting the dealer showrooms at that time. OTOH, there's so many '61's to choose from as I have models (either whole kits or restos) of the following............. Out of all of them, the '61 Pontiac Ventura is leading the pack since I have that kit untouched with detail stuff ready to use. Hmmm...............Decisions, Decisions.......... Oldmopars
Count me in. At this time the car is TBD. I have at least 6 in my stash that will work, but leaning towards a 1970 Land Rover Series IIa or a 1970 Ford Galaxie. However that bus idea is cool, I did build a 1965 Chevy school bus a while back. I've added the abbreviations STC for Subject To Change to your entry if you haven't decided exactly what you're building. I'll alter the Roster as we get further along and I'm happy to change it at any time as I did last year. I like the concept so I added it to the official rules. I'll add to and update the Roster as we turn each page. I'm seeing some fun projects already! I anticipate more along the way as well. I'm eager to get this one started. I'm still weighing my options on a project myself. Edited December 10, 2021 by disconovaman

Bullybeef
For my entry I’ve chosen the MPC 1970 Mercury Cyclone stock car as the base for the build! I may or may not use the 3D printed birdcage. I have some other ideas on a “modern” drivetrain but I’ll keep that under wraps til I source the correct parts. This is my first community build and my first CBR build. Im super stoked to be apart of this round.

Jantrix
I'm in. At this time I'm going to go with a 1968 Buick Riviera. Unless something unexpected pops up, I'm comfortable picking the build. Looking forward to this.
Lunajammer
Heck if all the other lemmings are jumping I guess I am in. ‘61 Ranchero. Birthday last week so the ‘62 lineup was probably hitting the stores, but the Ranchero should be painless.

camaro69
Haven´t changed my mind on the car but on the kit I´ll use as a base so count me in with my try to create a ´77 Chevy Nova 4 door Pro Touring. Body and most other parts will come from the MPC ´79 Nova Street Machine. Some parts like the bumpers will come from the ´76 AMT... I also will 3d print a new grille and some original style rims with a larger diameter to get the Pro Touring look. Here´s is the base... (a testprint of the new grille can be seen on pic 3 already ?) Happy modeling to everybody who participates and a special thanks to Anthony and Mike to make this CBR possible again. Rico
stinkybritches
Well, I'm going to give this a try again for 2022. Didn't make it to the starting line this year. I thought 11 months was enough time for what I was trying to do for 2021. I thought wrong. Decided to go with the AMT 66 Ford Fairlane 427. Spottedlaurel
Thanks @disconovamanfor getting the list going! Looks like I'm the 4th for 1970. I had pondered a couple of Chevies I already have in stash but I realised I've done too many of them in the last year or two and it's time to spread the love. By chance I've just managed to get this 1970 AMT Challenger on eBay: Once it arrives I'll see if a Viper V10 engine will fit. If it's not viable I'll do a Mustang or something Japanese.
4mula1fan
Finally found the old basket case. I'll be using some old Olds pro stock and Christene parts I think. Whatever parts I can shoehorn in the body. Not sure about the 348. It will most likely go.
