Unfortunately the kit doesn’t have an engine so it will require some cutting but I think the clearly scale LS with a procharger will hide under the hood nicely. Cale, with that setup, no one will be able to follow you.

Unfortunately I did not finish my 2021 build yet....I've had a terrible chest infection for the past 8 weeks and have not felt like doing much of anything, but plan on finishing the Mustang none the less. For 2022 I had originally planned on doing a '71 Plymouth GTX but I'm now changing that idea. Instead I'll be doing a 1971 AMX Javelin but will be using a 3D printed body of the Ring Bros Javelin ('72), since near as I can tell there is no difference. The body is 3D printed, I'll be 3D printing the wheels as well as other details and plan on either scratch building or 3D printing an interior tub. I'm thinking of scratch building a square tube chassis and using suspension from a modern race car, probably the Mustang GT4. I just bought the 3D file for the body and I have not printed it yet so once I do I can better figure out what I need for the chassis/suspension. For engine I'll either go with a Hellcat, like the Ring Bros used in their Javelin or I might go old school with the 440 six pack from the GTX. Currently I'm leaning towards the 440. Inspiration 3D print preview Not sure on colour options, but it wont be exactly the the Ring Bros car. I do like the wheels on the car but I also really like the Shelby Cobra Halibrands, so that might be an option, or maybe something else. or maybe Looking forward to seeing the builds begin in the New Year. Hi David, are you printing your own body or is there another source? I love that Ring bros. beast and could be interested in purchasing a body. Thanks, Steve
stavanzer
Scott, I wanted to do a Land Rover, but there are no kits of the early "Narrow eyed" Rover. All the current Rover kits have the "Wide eyes", with the headlights mounted in the fenders (Or wings) rather than in the front grille panel. So the Jeep is my next choice. Besides I have driven a real CJ-5 from Phoenix Az to Bakersfield Ca. Easy trip, but loud, as my Jeep had Hollow Glasspacks. And the three speed trans meant I ran most of the trip near redline. That’s the plan, I want to go with a overlander/go anywhere off road style truck. I’m already planning on ditching the ifs and going with a Dana 44 out of a Revell bronco as well as 4 link with coil overs front and rear and maybe even a roof top tent or camper with an exo skeleton. picture of what I’m using as my inspiration. I love that Ring bros. beast and could be interested in purchasing a body. Thanks, Steve Steve, I got the file here https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/1-24-javelin-ringbrothers and yes, I'm printed it myself. If you buy it to print, be warned it's not 1/24th scale, I did my first print without checking the size and it came out small, like 1/28th scale or so. I did a search on the interwebs and found the dimensions of the stock Javelin and used those to figure out the dimensions in 1/24th scale and had to bump up the print by about 11% to bring it up to 1/24. Other wise the files are very good and look accurate. The only other issue with them is that the panel lines are very shallow and will need to be scribed before primer and paint cause I doubt they'd even be visible after primer. All the parts are now printed. I wont be doing any work on the project till after the 1st but we had a warm spell here and I wanted to print off as many of the files as I could just in case it gets too cold. Resin printers are very touchy with low temperatures. I'll like post up a intro thread in the WiP section later tonight or tomorrow.
stitchdup
I'm in. I'll be trying to finish my disguised race car escort and now its not a disguised race car I can build it the way I would do in real life. Maybe I'll get it finished this year. I'm not sure which year the kit represents but I have both grille styles so it wont be a problem. I'll need to invest in a lot of decal softener as I plan to do most of the removable panels in carbon fibre to be more a modern style. It will still be cosworth powered and will represent a 1976 car Edited December 21, 2021 by stitchdup
Spottedlaurel
My AMT '70 Challenger arrived yesterday. Need to have a bit of a play with it over Christmas to see how the V10 might fit and what wheels/tyres will go with it. Got to work out how to give it a reasonably subtle look, more resto-mod than pro-touring. Maybe brown/bronze paintwork?

disconovaman
Got these two for Christmas and both could pass for 73, so maybe my build will be one of these. I was recently reading an article about the world's fastest tow truck and it gave me an idea to build a Square body tow truck lowered pro-street/pro-touring scratch build a bed with a wrecker boom and a massive Blown injected old school big block up out the hood! 🤔😄
Oldmopars
If you go with the Chevy truck idea, don’t forget to shave off the drip rails, 1973 was the only year that didn’t have them. I think someone makes a 73 grill. I say do it. It would be awesome. 1 hour ago, disconovaman said: Got these two for Christmas and both could pass for 73, so maybe my build will be one of these. Spottedlaurel
Good luck to all CBR2022 entrants! And Happny New Year too, of course. I need to get something else completed and off the bench over the next day or two, making use of the final few days of holiday, then I can make final decision and start on mine...... Mattilacken
Started on the beemer and I have always thought that the roof is to tall on these. But the problem is not the roof it’s the body side, it’s to low. Going through my parts body’s I figured that it might work to adopt the C5R side skirts on the bmw to make it look better and I think it does, what’s your thoughts? I am not sure. and without, looks good too. Edited January 1, 2022 by Mattilacken

Might be, it’s the Tamiya kit though but the 635 have issue where the glas is very tall look at this pic as an example: The side skirts make it come down to the ground more like a modern race car. And make it more proportional in my eyes, have to think on it.
Bullybeef
Well here we go! So the starting point is the mpc 1970 mercury cyclone. I’ve decided to stuff the innards of a 2013 revell mustang boss 302 inside and take this merc into the current millennium. The chassis will need to be stretched 1cm to correct the wheel base but overall I think the new underpinnings will work with a few modifications. The kit engine while nicely detailed may be upgraded to a 3D printed version with a supercharger.
