wayne00 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 This year I will be doing the White Freightliner SD/DD and Double Header trailer Combo. This will be my interpretation of the "Pacific Intermountain Express" truck unit. It won't be historically accurate and please don't count the rivets!! LOL Hopefully it won't take me a year this time. Rog? 2
Mopar - D Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 This will be a very interesting build Roger have you decided on what version of the Frightliner your going with SD or DD?
Pete68 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 (edited) Very nice Rog. I’ll be following along Edited January 1, 2022 by Pete68

wayne00 Posted January 1, 2022 Author Posted January 1, 2022 Here are a couple of inspiration pics. There will be some artistic license involved!! Rog? 1
gotnitro? Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 nice looking build Rog! Always liked the double header trailers
leafsprings Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Looking forward to this build. Hard to get these cabs just right without a lot of reworking, some comprimises are in order. 2 hole or 5 hand hole steel wheels are available in resin. Looks like your going to use the space saver 48" cab? ( front part of cab with out the rear section? ) I believe the kit is a 63".
tbill Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Will be cool to see this come together, I did the same thing years back as the CF set up, was a fun build, other than wrestling that cab together……
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 I’m really looking forward to seeing this one come together!!
Rusty92 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 I'll be following along on this one. Should be fun to have two day cabs in the build off.
vincen47 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 It’ll be neat if you did the triple like that inspiration photo.

This is very interesting information on the options that we available on the cab sizes. I may have to try building the 48” cab with one of my extra cabs. wayne00 Posted January 15, 2022 Author Posted January 15, 2022 Not much to up-date. Just working on sub-assemblies and clean up. Not going to be any outside painting in this neck of the woods for a while. rog?
doorsovdoon Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Looking forward to seeing updates on this. Love the doubles, good choice! I wanted to build those recently but realised I'd have nowhere to put them!
Gary Chastain Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Nice classic build, like the triple trailer setup.
wayne00 Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) Not much to up-date the weather has been terrible for painting. I tried to paint some primer one day, but the wind was too strong. The chassis on the SD is basically done. Since I can't paint, I thought I would explore some options, I might be getting ready to do something stupid!!! Rog? Edited February 20, 2022 by wayne00
wayne00 Posted February 26, 2022 Author Posted February 26, 2022 Just plugging away, I have a few more ideas spinning in my head. I figure with the weather here I might be able to paint about September!!! Rog?
Rockford Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 I love the Drom idea! It would be great to see one done. Used to be quite popular with the big van lines.
wayne00 Posted March 6, 2022 Author Posted March 6, 2022 I got a couple up on wheels It was warm enough to paint the last few days. Rog?
wayne00 Posted March 8, 2022 Author Posted March 8, 2022 Working on getting the drom box glued up. Rog?
Mopar - D Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Nice progress Roger are you building 2 PIE trucks ?
