spencer1984 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Fujimi kits for both the GT40 and 330 P. As often happens in Hollywood, the star cars weren't exactly historically accurate. It's less noticeable on the Ford, which was built more or less box stock and painted ScaleFinishes' "1966 Ford GT40 Light Blue." But the Ferrari was represented by a Race Car Replicas R4, based on the 1967 P4 rather than the 1966 P3. They also changed the markings, either to make it more photogenic or easier for the crew to reproduce as needed. I split the difference, swapping out wheels and mirrors then making my own markings that combined the original and movie cars. Writeups for them are available here and here, and any comments/criticisms are welcome. 4
Gramps46 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I like what you did and your descriptions of the changes you made to back date the kits.
Pierre Rivard Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Both of them knocked out of the park. Gorgeous!
vamach1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Fantastic builds. I wonder if anyone has tried to use the MENG engine in the Fujumi kit.
spencer1984 Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 Thanks! 3 hours ago, vamach1 said: I wonder if anyone has tried to use the MENG engine in the Fujumi kit. There's plenty of space to do so for anyone interested in trying it. You might also be able to get a Cobra engine to fit with some modification work.
1959scudetto Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Very nice builds and fabulous descriptions, Bill - the P4 with the P3 wheels looks almost like the 412 P (3rd placed NART car) from Daytona 1967 (Rodriguez/Guichet)
spencer1984 Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 Thank you! Even though the five spoke is possibly Ferrari's most iconic wheel design, I always liked the look of these.
Snake45 Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Beautiful, both of them! Very well done and model on!
