James2 Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Another unfinished model. This one truly is made up of pieces and parts from various sources. Mostly left overs. I’ll post some close ups of the chassis and engine later. 2
alan barton Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 James, that is one righteous chop! I guess there finally is an advantage to AMT giving us a rear window insert! I am going to have to study this one - I don't have any 34 coupes planed for the bench right now but I need to copy this before I forget it - wow, that looks so right! And that little duck tail rollpan - ahhhhhhh! Are you thinking of sectioning the 37 grille to get the hood line down? Are they the original Revell Anglia tyres up front? Cheers Alan
Bullybeef Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Ditto what he said^ But seriously, that’s off to a great start!
James2 Posted January 1, 2022 Author Posted January 1, 2022 So far I did get the hood lined up better by lowering the grill. It’s just taped on for now. The challenge is going to mate the hood and grill. Here’s the chassis with 40 Ford bracing, the two speed axle and assorted window frames to make one that fits. I’m not sold on the tri carbs just yet. Yes to the tires. Thx 1
Zippi Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Nice looking 34. I like the wheels and tires. Good looking old school Hot Rod.
OldNYJim Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 This is gonna be a great looking build - way cool!
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 That chop is looking good. That's not an easy chop on a '33/'34. Looking forward to more... -RRR
espo Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I agree with everyone else on the way you chopped the top. The proportions look like it was always that way.
Spex84 Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Nice work on that chop! I've only attempted to lean-chop a '34 once...with variable results, haha. The upper door frames and window reveals were the most difficult part to deal with. I like the truck grille! I agree it could use a little shortening, but I understand why you might not want to slice into it. The hemi combined with that wheel/tire package is going to look seriously mean!
chris chabre Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 AWESOME! in real life Id feel really bad for that columbia rear end haha
misterNNL Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Definitely headed down the right path here. Gonna be a classic rod.
James2 Posted January 9, 2022 Author Posted January 9, 2022 This was a good decision. Gonna strip it and see about painting body color. I’ll get the hood fit tightened up and keep on the body work.
Painted Black Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Like this a lot, will keep tabs on it, might get me moving on my 34..
James2 Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 Switched up intakes, I just could go without a blower…
Bullybeef Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Keep it up James, that’s looking ready to tear down the strip or cruise down the boulevard on a Friday night!
mrm Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I know it was said more than once already, but I’ll repeat it again. This chop is just perfect! I personally liked it better with the smooth hood.
NOBLNG Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 I sure like the look of this! Great work so far!?
James2 Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 4 hours ago, mrm said: I know it was said more than once already, but I’ll repeat it again. This chop is just perfect! I personally liked it better with the smooth hood. The hood did look good but even if I ran a carb it would of needed to be cut. The clearance is to close, so as they say, go big or go home… 1 1
James2 Posted January 15, 2022 Author Posted January 15, 2022 Well what do ya think? A little more fitting and I think it’ll fit fine… 2
James2 Posted January 19, 2022 Author Posted January 19, 2022 I am working on the body and glass. The chassis and interior are done. Paint next! 1
alan barton Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 This is looking so cool. I'm glad you sectioned the grille - it really helped the proportions and you chose a perfect place to make the cut. Looking forward to seeing it in paint. Cheers Alan
