cobraman Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) My wife found and bought this for me this past Christmas . Started it this past Monday . It’s going to take awhile but it is starting to look like a Cobra . Edited March 7, 2022 by cobraman 5
TooOld Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 That's pretty cool ! Is it oils or acrylic paint and who made it ?
David G. Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 When it's finished it should be a great addition to your workshop. David G.
cobraman Posted February 19, 2022 Author Posted February 19, 2022 Thanks fellows ! It is acrylic paint. Not sure who makes it, I will see if i can find out where my wife ordered it.
cobraman Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 Here is another auto themed one I did a while ago . Don’t think I posted before . 2
Jhedir6 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Very cool Ray. I'd definitely be interested in more info on the Cobra art if she has it.
crazyjim Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 The gas station pic is wonderful and the Cobra seems to be coming very well, Ray.
Jhedir6 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Found the kit, here's the link https://modernpaintbynumbers.com/products/vintage-street-car-british-american-engines-paint-by-numbers/
cobraman Posted February 28, 2022 Author Posted February 28, 2022 Yes, that's it. I have the 16x20 with the frame.
JollySipper Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I like how it looks in the initial post! Kinda artsy...... I would be tempted to leave it like that.
cobraman Posted February 28, 2022 Author Posted February 28, 2022 Well that would have been a whole lot easier ! ?
vamach1 Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 I saw this picture in a Road and Track story. It looks similar to the painting you’re doing.
Lunajammer Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Looked at this while at work (graphic design office) and discussed it with my partner in crime. We both agree that this is a valuable tool toward helping people becoming fine arts painters. It helps you to see light and dark and their relationships, helps you learn the qualities of acrylic paint and canvas and leaves you the option to experiment with mixing and blending. When viewing exhibits of emerging artists, it's easy to spot the beginners because they always go too light. Committing to using bold darks can be intimidating. This kind of painting can help you see the value of, well, color values. That gives an artist the confidence to go richer in their own fine arts expressions. 2
majel Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 The gas station looks a little like the one still standing in Hackberry, AZ on Route 66. Good job Ray!!
cobraman Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 Thanks Jim. That was a good one to do. This Cobra one not so much. Paints not that good and I don't care for some of the color call outs. The background looks weird but when done it may make more sense.
Phirewriter Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 That turned out really nice! Based on your comments about paint quality and color selection I wasn't sure about the end result but it looks great.
Belugawrx Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 Wow, that is really well done Ray ! what size is it ? 16x20 oops missed that..might need to get that !
