happy grumpy Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I am not usually into die cast but I wanted to have a replica of my dad's pick up he had from 69 to 78. A plastic kit would be nice but let's face it, that's not coming anytime soon. So when I stumbled on First gear website and saw they offered a IH c1100, I couldn't pass this up. I disassembled it . re-painted it and scratch built the wooden dump box operated with a steel cable and hard as hell to turn handle, especially when you're a 16 years old weighing 120 pounds. The last photo is the real one , unfortunately , it is the only one I have. The blurry human form standing in front of the truck is me at 16. This truck brings me very fond memories of a simpler life and blessed innocence. as always, thanks for looking.
Claude Thibodeau Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Hi Mario! Well, this is being true to the story. It looks the part! Bravo. CT
Rusty92 Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Looks awesome!! I want to get one of these, too bad they are step side. My grandfather had a 65 C1100 that was an old state truck, fleet side, 4wd too. Said it would go through anything. Sorry to derail, it’s a great looking model. Tribute builds are always great.
espo Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Great looking build. I like the realistic finishes and the story behind this.
1959scudetto Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Super, Mario - these realistic-looking finishes is what we are expecting from you - looks great as always !

Ian McLaren Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Great job and memories, a most worthwhile project.
#1 model citizen Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 You did a great job on this. I’ve never reworked a die cast but seems like it would be a tougher medium to work with.
Bainford Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Very nice conversion, Mario. You did a great job replicating the old truck. Nice work on the weathering, and great memories too, I'm sure. Well done., 1
