mvadrag Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Inspired by Speedpro's over the top build of this Monogram oldie, I dug out my build version (late eighties) and took some new pictures. In retrospect, I see that I did not work on the fit up of the removable front as much as I should have. In fact, I kept that part of the kit even though I put it on the Monogram 1970 Malibu SS 454 chassis. I did not use the hood scoop because I wanted the carbs and blower sticking out of the hood. Wheels and tires are from a set by Arii, featuring rubber tires and a satin aluminum finish. 6
throttlejockey Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Very cool. I built that kit way back in the day....it was the red version
mvadrag Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 The 1970 Chevelle ended up on a Revell 1967 Chevelle Pro Street chassis. In this case, the difference between 1/24 and 1/25 did not matter much. Oops!! Never put the engine in... 2
Nacho Z Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 I really like this one. It takes me back to my high school days when those cars were just used cars and they looked like yours. Great model! Thanks for sharing.

I drove a tubbed 1966 Chevy II on the street. 1
Geno Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 (edited) Man, that looks great to me Jose. I went the stock route with mine using the Monogram '64 GTO chassis and '70 Chevelle wheels and tires. Edited May 21, 2022 by Geno
Steve H Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Very nice build of this kit. I recently bought one and look forward to building this kit again. My first effort was a bit rough…

TooOld Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Looks cool to me , the way it was meant to be built ! Much cleaner with no scoop and those wheels & tires are perfect for it!
TransAmMike Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Good looking '66 Jose'. '66 SS was the first new car I ever bought. Man I wish I still had it. Great job? 1
carrucha Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Cool build. The black body and wheel/tire combo give it a tough look. 1
mustang1989 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 What a beautiful build. Things shinin' like a new diamond!! WOW!!! 1
Koellefornia Kid Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Great build! Love the shiny black paint job and the wheel/tire combo! Fits perfectly! 1

For some reason I really like those Monogram 1/24 scale cars.
