Brianl Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 The challenge with this build was to use only the parts from the Monogram '99 Mustang SVT Cobra kit to upgrade the AMT '57 T'bird. I wanted a more modern look to the styling so I've removed the side flutes and fins to create a smoother less fussy side profile. I'm thinking of a '60's dream car type theme, lots of metallics etc The Mustang chassis hasn't needed to be modified too much to fit the T'Bird body and most of the interior (once shortened) also fitted surprisingly well.. Engine bay clean up is next Brian 7
Modlbldr Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 That looks great! Much smoother, lower and longer looking! Nice work. Later-
espo Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 I like your styling changes. What sort of windshield treatment are you thinking of?
EngineerBob Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Great kit-bashing/customizing! The styling changes really work well to make it swoopy while still clearly being a 57 Tbird.
Brianl Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 Thanks for the comments Screen will be the stock one without the frame and cut down to be lower and more laid back. Brian
Kenmojr Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Love the direction you are taking this T-Bird.
Dave Darby Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Very cool custom, but it's way more mod than it is resto. Maybe a Custo-mod?
Brianl Posted February 20, 2023 Author Posted February 20, 2023 Okay I've picked up this thread again for an update. Most of the bodywork is finished so it's off to paint. First coat Tamiya pearl white for the stripes then pearl light blue for the body colour .... I think ... at this stage ... maybe! Chassis shot shows the "minor" mods to the Mustang chassis. Brian 2
Starwulf Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Excellent use of the Viper roll bar, really compliments the overall style.
NOBLNG Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) Fantastic! i am doing the same thing right now (off and on again?). I am keeping the body mostly stock ‘cause I like it and I wasn’t sure how to modify it nicely. Yours looks great! ? SpikeSchumacher Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 This is looking really nice Brian! ?
