Rich Chernosky Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Been awhile since I finished something then I found this is the stash all painted and ready to go. Color is a mix of Tamiya TS26 white and TS7 Racing white. Additions are wheels and tires from the Modellers Chaparral 2D, seatbelts and poseable wheels. Rest is box stock. The is the car Jim Hall campaigned in the 1966 Can-Am and the SCCA United States Road Racing Championship. More details in the captions. Thanks for looking. Finished model on its wheels. Gold strip on tires is gold striping tape cut down and varnished in place. Tiny photo etch on wing is a spirit level for adjusting the wing angle. Business end of the car. Lots and lots of photo etch parts to apply. The model is a curbside like most Fisher kits. Side view. Jim Halls car differed slightly from Hap Sharps. Most noteable difference was the rounded tub. Note the tiny PE fasteners on the windscreen. There were 24 of them in all to apply. Stark but functional interior of the 2E. Somwhere in there is a handmade gear lever. Decals for the dash came out of the extras I have accumulated over the years, We modelers are hoarders of all kinds of stuff but sometimes it really pays off. Really liked the decals in this kit. We are going to miss Mike Quarterman who did the decals for Fisher and many others. 5
iBorg Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Nice build.....as for missing Mike, absolutely. A great person always willing to share his knowledge.
Gramps46 Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I have never seen a 2E looks so good. The little bits really make it pop!!
Dave B Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 That's a beautiful build Rich, much to my dismay I missed out on buying one from Paul by about 2 weeks. Had arranged with a mate to buy together to reduce shipping costs but the Paradise was no more. Love the trick on the gold tyre stripe as well. Tks Dave B
happy grumpy Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Gorgeous build, nice and clean paint job.

I got to see all his builds and he got to see mine. 10 hours ago, Gramps46 said: I have never seen a 2E looks so good. The little bits really make it pop!! Tks Dave B Sorry you missed out Dave...these are great kits and I see them pop up all the time...sooo maybe. The cut down vinyl tape trick I have been using for years. Its great for fine lines that are impossible to paint. 29 minutes ago, ChrisR said: NICE! Thanks 13 minutes ago, happy grumpy said: Gorgeous build, nice and clean paint job. Mario..resin can sometimes be a real challenge to get a nice smooth job...not this one though...minimum sanding and primer. Thanks for the compliment.
David G. Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I love all the added details. Nicely Done! David G.
TonyK Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Very very nice! And good job on the detail parts. Amazing patience.
Pierre Rivard Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Beautifully done Rich. I've seen a few of these Fisher kits presented but never seen one for real. Seems like they are nice but require work and skills to get good results. Obviously you have these qualities!
1959scudetto Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Very well done, Rich - impressive model of Jim Hall's legendary racer. 24 tiny photo-etch fasteners : OMG ! I think you matched the color really well: I'm not sure which white will be the best for my Fujimi (= Modeler) 2D and Arii's 2 C - both in my stash: I have 2 Chaparral books, and the color pics show all kinds of white: from a very cold white up to the warm, creamy tone that Tamiya's racing white has. An airbrush would come handy here.

Its all in what you you want to put into them. The attraction for me is the subject matter, the price and the fact they are so well cast. I have most of them now but I still some for sale. 19 hours ago, 1959scudetto said: Very well done, Rich - impressive model of Jim Hall's legendary racer. 24 tiny photo-etch fasteners : OMG ! So TS-26 would do for your project...or you could spray them TS7 and then a light coat of TS26 over top. Better yet get an airbrush and mix them 85% - 15% like I did . . You are already an awesome painter and this will make you even better. I have been using one for 40+ yrs now and have never looked back. 12 hours ago, unclescott58 said: Very, very nice. Thank you.
