Truckdriver Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Well after 50 years of trying to complete this model, I have finally completed an Orange Crate model. Back in 1973 my father bought me this kit to keep me busy on our vacation in L.A. California. He asked me what I wanted, and this kit was it. So he purchased this along with a tube of glue. After multiple attempts and 3 other kits, I've finally succeeded at completion of my 'Holy Grail' kit. Its not perfect by no means, but everything works. Thanks for looking. 12
Zippi Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 That orange looks so good on this build. Nice job. Looks Great. 1
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 I remember when the kit came out in the 60's. Beautiful box art. Looked beyond my abilities. Congrats. 1
Joe Nunes Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Looks good! Always thought the car had the right "attitude". Joe 1
Dragline Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Revell's toughest kit by far. You did a wonderful job and it is meticulous in its construction. I would be proud to display such a nodel. 1
Twokidsnosleep Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Awesome build. Purchased the kit this past year and have it in the stash for another run...maybe 45 years since I first destroyed it? 1
Straightliner59 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Excellent job on a difficult kit. Congratulations! 1
Richard Bartrop Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 You did a great job on a challenging kit. 1
Dan Hay Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 You did a fantastic job because that’s not an easy kit to build! I have one that I parted out to other projects because it was difficult. 1
Bainford Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Just beautiful, David. Such nice, clean work on such a challenging kit. Excellent! 1
Truckdriver Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Thank you everyone for all the wonderful comments on this milestone build for me. One of the most important things I noticed on my previous attempts was the rear ride height was too wide and high. So I narrowed the rear end and lowered the rear spring so it would look more realistic. Also I custom mixed the orange paint to look closer to the box art. Again thank you for looking! 3
Smitty Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Persistence has certainly paid off for you on this one. You’ve done an excellent job on it. All the various finishes are working very well. I have this one in my stash as well and I hope it turns out as nice as yours. Especially that gorgeous orange paint job! 1
restoman Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Very very nice! I don't know if I'll ever get to building mine, but I hope it turns out somewhere close to the level of work you've done here. 1
carrucha Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Looks good. Congratulations on finally finishing it. 1
