oldcarfan Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I actually found a Holy Grail that I'd been watching for for a long time and as it happens, ended up with three. It is the Otaki 1/24th Porsche 911. I kept an eye on them on eBay for years, but they were always too rich for my blood. Back in the COVID days, I was laid up and came across one sitting at $20 and put it on the watch list. No one seemed to notice it and I got it for $20 plus shipping. A few months later, I got another in the same sort of situation, and then finally found one with a little damage for $10. I consider myself lucky!
dave branson Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I have 2 first is the MPC 1970 Firebird Tran Am I finally got that last year at the Heartland Nationals model show the other is Otaki 1/12 Firebird Trans Am. Here is a pic of my MPC kit. 1
Camaro lover Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 This is another I’d like to get some day 3
ss2000 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Just picked this up, going to build it like the box art. 4
randx0 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 I'm not sure how many were in this series but any of these . I like that it came with an obscure to me vehicle , a scooter and people and things those people would use for the activity . The first one I ever saw was on ebay last year but I missed it . 3
Joe McDonald Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 This would be the one for me, I would build it as a replica of my actual 1965 Cadillac. Unfortunately like many of these "Holy Grail" kits, the cost is WAY up there! 3
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Right now it's a '60 Buick hardtop annual...but the prices are crazy if you can even find one. Big surprise, eh?

I love the van and the scooter. Didn't even know this one existed, and now I really want one! If only they'd reissue it at an affordable price.

Never had one, but I've drooled over the kit while studying it online. Guys! You're never gonna believe this! Well, you might since I have pics..... I was able to add this kit to the to-do pile over the weekend! I ordered it Thursday and got it today, Tues. The release I have here is actually from Imai, but it's the same as the Bandai/Entex kit..... Complete with decals and instructions, still in it's bags! I can die now and feel complete, though I'd like to build the thing first..... 2

I've watched a couple of those over the years, but when the bidding got into stupid-money territory, I dropped out. Nice score. Very nice indeed. 1

Interesting..I have one with the hood separate...I thought it was made that way (cleanly separate). No engine, though.

No engine, though. The 60 Buick is an interesting kit. It might be the only kit AMT with the cut-out hood. Remember the 60 Buick, Thunderbird, F100 and C-10 were the first AMT annual kits to have opening hoods, so AMT was new at this. The plastic between the hood and the body is hardly thicker than flash to it can be cut easily. In retrospect I suspect AMT was looking at a way to avoid the tooling change from promo to kit where the hood is removed from the body and molded as a separate piece.
oldcarfan Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I don't know if they are Holy Grails or not, but I'm always on the lookout for the early 70s MPC Annuals. I would love to get the pre-facelift Jeep Commando, the early Pinto and Vega, the small bumper 73 Caprice and the 74-77 Camaro. Oh, and the first version of their Dodge Van and Open Road Chevy van both with the glass for window van versions. Pretty much all their output would be cool to have.

Why, with todays technology has someone not come out with a 1/25th 3D printed Mantaray body? I have sourced an engine (IMC weber carbed 289 Ford), frame, suspension, wheels and tires from the Amt Indy Watson roadster from the parts box. Just waiting. Edited June 28 by magicmustang
Falcon Ranchero Posted June 27 Posted June 27 The broken record is still playing: JO HAN 1960 PLYMOUTH FURY But I’d even settle for the seemingly easier to find wagon or the surprisingly hard to find ‘59 Cadillac Seville

iamsuperdan Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I have a couple that seem to be pure unobtanium. Tamiya Alfa Romeo 155 - Bosch version. ALthough I hear this is being reissued, so I'll be picking that up. Then I'll have all of the Tamiya 155s. Revell Mercedes 230TE. I think it's a rebox of the Fujimi kit. Revell Gemballa Avalanche. Have seen them pop up on eBay, but pricing is always mental. Johan 1968 Plymouth Fury III Convertible. I know of the promo, and I thin kthere was a kit available. Have never found one for sale.
TarheelRick Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Would love to see a reissue of the AMT '62 Ford Galaxie annual or any version of the '63 Pontiac annual. 1

Dragline Posted June 27 Posted June 27 (edited) 1/16 scale Aurora funny cars and their accessories and or extras. That stuff is like gold at this point. I have a VooDoo Vega here and while it has part of the engine built and the decals are wasted, the rest is here and in good shape. The box is not terrible. I would like a new one. And a Pinto to go with it for the ultimate 1/16 scale starting line diorama. I can wish. Edited Sunday at 02:36 PM by Dragline Add images
BKF Posted June 28 Posted June 28 This was mine for a while. I really just wanted the body as none of the 69' Chargers with the vinyl top I have have the 69' Charger side markers lights and I wasn't willing to pay Ebay prices. I found it at a recent show for a good price. Box was open but everything inside was still sealed.
