I was selling some kits that I probably had 5 to 8 of in my stash. Favorites: AMT '40 Ford, '49 Ford and Mercury, '32 Fords. Any cheap NASCAR kit that can be pillaged for parts. MPC modifieds, I have by the case. Funny they were not selling at $15 per. I also have a bunch of AMT early modifieds, despite the cumbersome chassis to build, they are nice kits. We had that conversation while I was buying these from you! I’ve been on a 57 Ford binge lately, buying kits for parts to finish up a few restorations! 2

Claude Thibodeau Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Hi! I confess to a weakness for Monogram's 85 ProStock TBird, and Johan's 70 Eldo. Oh well... Hours of fun with styrene! CT 1

afx Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I have built a few of each but have a few more in the stash. AMT Shelby Cobras Fujimi Porsche 911s
stitchdup Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I forgot about the golfs and revell vw camper/bus/van kits. I multiples of each version of those but i've been holding off on the mk1s recently as they seem to have doubled in price

Modelhaus once did a '57 sedan body based on an AMT promo body molded in styrene that turned up. The story goes that at some point AMT was looking at doing another '57 Ford kit based on the promo body. I've got one of the Modelhaus bodies, will have to dig it out and check it versus the one pictured.

Anyone? I forget where I got it from, it is nicely cast and I fit the AMT interior into it. I'm glad it found a new home. I still have 4 or 5 '57 kits on hand. Just thinning the herd. Nobody bit on my '56 Fords, another good one to build up.

Nice, I wish they were still made because the revell body needs a lot of work to look right. I did cut up a 57 Fairlane body to correct a two-door sedan body and I'm doing a Del Rio also. It wasn't that difficult but I've got so many kids to build I don't have time to be correcting things, otherwise the revell 57s would be on my list of must-haves Edited November 14, 2023 by Sledsel 1

Mr. Metallic Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I can't help myself from buying the Monogram 32 Ford roadsters, any version, almost any time I see it. The tooling that started out as the Little Deuce. That has the best kit based traditional hot rod suspension and brakes available, especially the front. Thanks to Dave Darby for turning me on to those years ago. They used to be everywhere at shows and swaps for next to nothing, but I think since people figured out about the suspension the prices have gone up. Thankfully Ollies got their hands on some earlier this year and I was able to score a couple more. 1

Don't ask me why. Merely preserving one of the greatest rodding eras, I guess (snapshot from a '48 film taken on Bunker Hill, LA.) My pile is similar, but with a fairly heavy concentration of Ford trucks, handful of reissue amt '78 4x4s grabbed cheap among others. Great for accurizing a certain modern release. Lots of mustangs and a few torinos as well too, mainly for the better accuracy of detail parts. 1
bobss396 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I just sold a bunch of kits at a show, got rid of many duplicates. For an odd reason I came home with 2 unsold AMT '49 Merc kits. They were priced to sell. I had a Replicas version of the '56 Ford, that came home too. I was talking with a modeling buddy yesterday. I was talking about taking a year off and building nothing but Trophy Series kits. Everything always fit together well on those. I never recalled a struggle even at 9 years old. I'm building an AMT '66 Impala Modified Stocker. I also have a stash of this series and most are pretty good. Talk about fit issues. I had to sand the sides of the interior tub to get it to meet the tops of the doors. I made up blocks towards the front of the tub as stops. I will have to pin the chassis to the interior tub and make up something to positively locate the rear of the chassis to the body. Imagine a little kid of 12 trying to put one together?
Mark Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 When we were 12, poor parts fit = use more glue! 2
1959scudetto Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Just checked my excel sheet concerning my stash - the most - still unbuilt - kits I do have are: 13 Mini Coopers (stock, racing and rally versions, Morris and Austin) from Tamiya, Revell andFujimi 11 Ford GT40 (including a Ford Mk IV) from Fujimi, Revell, Arii and LeMans Miniatures) 10 Lancia Stratos (rally, road racing and stock versions) from Hasegawa, Revell and Tamiya 22 Ferrari 250 GTO, 250 SWB and 250 California Spider from Italeri, Revell, Protar and Gunze Sangyo (including 4 transkits from Umi, Mini Exotics, Tecnomodel and Carrera) 1
RSchnell Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 My kits that I can't have enough of mimic the real stuff I've owned over the years- Model A Fords, 55-57 Ford passenger cars & wagons, C1 Corvettes Also have a weakness for the AMT '49 Mercs, any of the Revell '32 Fords & of course any old annual that's priced right.
LDO Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) The Big Deuce. I’ve bought seven since the Revell Germany reissue around 30 years ago. Never one older than that. Edited November 19, 2023 by LDO
Mike C. Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) It seems like every time I stop at HH, I pick up one or 2 of these. The parts alone are worth the entire purchase when they have the 40% off sales. Have lots of tire/wheel sets to trade. I have at least 6 of these kits. a few molded in black. Also, the Revell GMC truck. Have like 3 of these. Edited November 21, 2023 by Mike C.
sfhess Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 67-72 Mercury Cougar. Mustang Mach 1 Concept car Chevy Astro 1 AMT 68 Impala "Custom".
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 In all honesty, I have to say that in my case, there is no such thing as a kit that I "can't get enough of". Once I've built one, I've pretty much had enough of it. Repetitiveness is my enemy. I've never been one to build the same kit over and over again. It's hard enough for me to remain focused on building when I'm doing something different every time. Steve
Richard Bartrop Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Right now, the 'Revel '40 and '48 Ford kits, Revel's '29 pickup, and Roadster, and any of the model T and Model A kits, mostly for their kitbashing potential, and when you're making hot rods and customs, there are so many variations you can build. Same with the Monogram and Jo-Han classic kits, because even after you've done a box stock version, there are so many custom bodies you could do 1
