Phildaupho Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 (edited) I am not really sure what to call this emerging style of hot rod but I am calling it Retro-Mod[ern]. I have been seeing more and more modern contemporary styled hot rods that are severely lowered with big diameter wheels, low profile tires, a lack of chrome, unusual engines and subdued paint jobs ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONS Smoothed roof top Filled cowl vent Removed edge trim on cowl and grill shell Totally de-chromed Tubbed rear wheel wells Lowered suspension Wheels, tires and seat from AMT Phantom Vickie Replicas & Miniatures Weber Carbs with air cleaners from AMT 53 Ford PU Louvered hood from Jason Lookabill Paint – Tamiya TS-68 Wooden Deck Tan. The outer body was clear coated Edited July 19, 2024 by Phildaupho 14
espo Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Like the style of your build. Amazing how tall the stock roof looks. The smoothed body and extra louvers along with the blacked out trim really change the appearance. Like the stance along with the wheels & tires.
Zippi Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I'm really liking this build Phil. Kinda the style I've been doing for a while. Really nice looking Deuce.
Steve H Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Really cool Duece Phil. This is a cool trend indeed. Great stance and very clean build as always. What black did you use? Looks like it has a blueish pearl look to it, very cool. Cheers, Steve
NOBLNG Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Sweet looking Deuce Phil!? I really like all the blacked out accessories. Very cool indeed.?
Rattlecan Dan Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Nice build. The black trim gives it a really unique look. Nice job.

XYHARRY Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Very cool style of hotrod there Phil, and imho the 32 5window full fendered coupe looks better with the stock roof height. Very clean build and thanks for sharing. Cheers, David. ??

Dennis Lacy Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Very nice, Phil. Excellent take on the modern style you mention. Not sure what to call it exactly. Kind of a “retro-understated”. I especially like the slammed stance and 5 liter engine with the Webers and use of those air filters that tie in with the valve covers. Not sure if you’ve seen it but a great example of this style is Kugels roadster “32 My Way” 1
