You guys have any goals for next year, as far as building goes? I have two large scale kits that I promise myself I'll finish in the coming year....... One's the 1/16 '57 Corvette from MPC. It pretty much just needs the body painted and final fitment. The other is the 1/16 Porsche 906. I've got a decent start on it, the interior and engine are coming along........

I've been improving my interior detailing skills this year, much better but more to go. I'd like to concentrate more on chassis detail next year, particularly weathering. And try to finish some stalled builds.

My goal is to at least get back into the shop sometime soon and finish my ‘64 Pontiac Lemans convertible project, and hopefully at least get a start on a much anticipated full detail  ‘61 Dodge Dart Phoenix D-500 build.

I have a bilge fan, and the power pack to run it, but I gotta get motivated to build a paint booth. I’m all finished with everything at the new house now, totally moved in, set up, and everything is 100% finished. Model room is all done too, except for the booth. Probably just a bit lazy from all the other work I did. I’m gonna definitely get one up and running after the new year.

I have a few ideas for some sportsman drag racers to include trailers and tow rigs. But my next big project is a temporary replacement 455 for my 1:1.

I also want to finish some stalled projects and TRY not to start MORE.

I really need a small lathe. I have it narrowed down to a Sherline.

Next is a dedicated modeling area, I build right now on my fining room table.

Lastly, keep selling off/trading my older kits.

That would have the cross-ram Commando engine, correct? I'm positive you will do a bang-up job with it!

Mine will be the same one I've had for at least ten years, probably close to twenty.

I resolve to build models that come from a box with just one model in it.

Let me explain.  I have a stash of about 250 model boxes but there is considerably more models in those boxes than 250 - probably closer to 350.  Since I retired I work on my models pretty much every evening plus I have the luxury of painting during the warmer hours of the day when necessary.

In the three years that I have enjoyed retirement, I have completed just over 100 models, something I'm pretty proud of.  The problem is, while there are 100 new builds on my shelves, there are not 100 spaces on my shelves where they came from. I bought about twenty kits this year but that is not the problem - the problem is that I seem to be building lots of kits from parts, so while the number of models finished goes up, the number of full boxes does not go down.

Making it worse, my two rooms full of floor to ceiling cabinets for my toy and model collection is bursting at the seams - if I could get rid of some boxes off the shelves in my build room I could have more space for new builds.

Yeah, I know, first world problem but it is frustrating to me!

Cheers Alan

Mine would be to actually place all the parts, decals and kits for planned projects in one box and put peel off labels on such boxes labeling them for example "California Flash Camaro" instead of the box of wheels, decals and resin parts all in their own areas.  That way I'm not wondering - "now why did I acquire this kit"??

Mmmmm... I guess my model building resolution should be to focus more on one project until it gets done. When I ran my business, I found that model building was an activity that didn't have deadlines. I would just build out of box and be happy, Build got done when it got done.

After lurking on forums and drooling over builds with specific subject matter, I decided that this was the direction I wanted to take things (thanks guys!).

Now I do research to make sure to get things right and decided to get into 3D printing so I could make wheels and parts that I can't find in the aftermarket.

So, my nonchalant attitude, coupled with my solid modeling and 3D printing needs, has me in the middle of multiple builds that seem to all be in suspended animation.

Focus, focus. Going to make a list and prioritize. Hopefully I'll get something finished.

Quit starting new projects when I have so many unfinished ones.

Quit buying more kits when I have more than I could ever build.

I resolve to keep hurtling down the same path as last year….buying whatever kit catches my eye, and finishing a kit for every 2 or 3 that I start.🥴 Don’t wanna set myself up for disappointment.😳

Build a paint booth.

I planned to finish 12 builds for 2023. I came up 3 short. Tried again in 2024 and ended up with 17, so that evened out pretty well.

I should make that a resolution for the new year. Meanwhile I'm going to my LHS tomorrow to see what they have car-wise for their Boxing day sale! LOL
