It gets ugly depending on circumstances. Generally speaking, I use facts to refute whatever nonsense is being presented to me as reality. 🙂

I am sorry I don’t understand if you do many work in progress and posting build you will run out am I right?

What happens when you reach your limit Dave?

I completely misinterpreted that question. I was thinking it was my personal limit. Let me try answering again.

If you use the drag and drop feature to upload your pictures, you will get a message when you try to upload a file that's either individually too big, or collectively makes the post too big.

Google Chrome user here - When I try to drag and drop a photo onto a post, I no longer get the maximum limit message. However, I do get the following: You cannot paste images directly. Upload or insert images from URL.

My apologies. I screwed up and didn't set some values correctly. I think it's fixed now. I'm sure you'll let me know if it isn't. 🙂

Shamefacedly yours,
Dave

Just tried to post an update with pics and still no stated option at bottom of quote box to either ‘drag and drop’ or ‘choose files’.  Only visible option  is the ‘Other Media’ drop down in lower right hand corner.

It also tells me to manage attachments to free up space. ???? but where.

Work in progress pictures I use an Ipad or a android tablet or phone not my Fotki account

I'm down to just my phone until I get a new computer. No way for me to add a photo. Is this a glitch or the way it is going forward?

Still no drag &drop or choose files option for me.

Me neither...

NO photo upload options displayed at the bottom of the post where they USED to be on either Chrome or Firefox.

EDIT: Though today I'm getting this message at the bottom of the screen (but it's NOT stopping me from inserting web-sourced images)

I use my iPhone for everything nowadays and I have no computer. It used to be easy for me to post pics of WIPs or if someone was looking for something. Now I can’t since I don’t have any photo hosting or anything like that.

Is this going to be a permanent thing for the future or will it be going back to normal soon?

As of right no, the TOTAL limit is set to 10mb. I have reached back out to Dave to point this out. We will need to decide how to address this. Obviously, we can't have that be our total limit as it locks out a lot of members from being able to post photos again (unless they are hosted off site, which brings the PhotoBucket mess back to life). We will figure something out, just need to get everyone online at the same time so we can talk about it. My guess is, there will be a size limit placed on photos going forward. Some guys may need to learn how to resize photos or maybe the software can automatically do it.

This is temporary, we will get it worked out.

Thanks Michael, Dave and the whole team for all your efforts regarding this minor glitch ( major glitch ) . . . I can see that you have many members raising concerns, so I won't add to your burden guys ! . . . Myself, I have worked in the IT industry for over 40 years, both in mainframe computers and the very first Microsoft Windows on the first PC's, and as a retired Technical Support Engineer this sort of situation is all too familiar for me . . . Good luck with the fix  !!!

For your information, my typical photo file size is between 1.80 MB and 2.20 MB, so if I upload 10 photos, which is typical, that is 18 MB to 22 MB in total.

Still getting the message to manage attachments to free up space.  How do I do this?   Is it necessary?   Can't upload photos as there is no box to do so.  Got some cool stuff to post . This is frustrating.

I have a sizeable archive of pro mod photos from pro garages. Is there a chance I could upload these folders?

Thank You to all the administrators and moderators for keeping this site running. We appreciate your efforts. I will just be patient until the issue is fixed and everyone will just have to wait to see my next awe-inspiring photos.😜

Would it help storeage space wise if folks would delete the photos from a post that they quote? They could retain a photo if it is pertinent to their response.

Unfortunately it's still not working for me. I just logged out, deleted all cookes and logged in back again, but no upload option displayed when replying to a post :(

Many of us have been requesting folks to do that for years.

Many others don't read, don't understand photo storage, or just don't care, and apparently assume storage capacity ON THIS SITE is unlimited.

Photos stored on OFF SITE SERVERS like Fotki and P'bucket can still be inserted in posts, as they are not stored on this site as data-hog photo files, but only as short links to the actual storage platform.

It's unfortunate that when a post is quoted that the default would be that only text would be quoted. There are really very few cases that  the pictures need to be repeated. Repeating only the text would be a sensible way to solve the problem.

I just removed the limits, and things should go back to our previous behavior.

Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Regarding drag and drop for photos -- That is likely a separate problem. I normally use Chrome on Windows 10/11, and the drag-n-drop is working on that browser. It's also working on Firefox. I will try Safari on Mac later today.

"Drag" and "choose files" is back.
