Gary (Gramps46) is a walking encyclopedia on Lemans car and especially GT40s and Cobras. I look forward to following along with the GT40 build. 1

A good companion to the Funny Car book I got a week ago, written by the same guy, Lou Hart. I figured both books can tell me more about what the models I’m build represent. And help with my builds in the future. You had a mailbox full Scott!
Mike C. Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) Got my Jimmy Flintstone '55 Chevy 3100 panel. I got these wheels that I thought were 18" Torq Thrusts but they look a little rubber bandy to me. Edited July 23, 2022 by Mike C. 4
DPNM Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 (edited) I'm still off the AAD recovery wagon. I found this one at a good price. It doesn't look like it was ever used. Thayer & Chandler Elite detail brush. They are a bit different as you unscrew the aircap to adjust the line width. Fully seated gives a spatter pattern. Typical AB use is between 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 turns out. I have another one of these brushes also. This one, in the cedar case, predates my other one which is, IIRC, in a walnut case. They are double action. And I did buy another airbrush. It should be here by Tuesday. I'll post a pic when it shows. Edited July 27, 2022 by DPNM 2
Modlbldr Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 I went to a monthly model sale today at one of my fellow club member's house. Picked up.a few things for cheap. Got some bodies for $1 each, a couple of parts kits for $5 each, a stack of decals for $10, 84 GMC Deserter suspensions, and the best of my bunch- a complete Dodge Ramcharger for $25. Later- 1
Mike C. Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Even if you don't build the entire truck, those Deserters are a treasure trove of parts for the parts bins. 1
OldNYJim Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) Got a couple of packs of 25 sanding sticks for two bucks each, shipped, on Prime Day last week - now I can tackle all those kits with too much flash! ? Edited July 24, 2022 by CabDriver I can’t count, or remember things apparently 3
89AKurt Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Splurged on this, forgot to put a bid in the last offering which ticked me off, just had to get it. Anyone know if the tires are loose and the glass isn't in a bag on these kits? 2

DPNM Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 (edited) This was in today's mail, a day early too. Grafo T2 now made by Harder & Steenbeck. These are similar to use as the Hansa airbrush I have. You can not push down on the trigger, it doesn't depress. These brushes have what they call "Controlled Double Function". To use them you pull back on the trigger slightly and you get air. Pulling the trigger back further releases paint flow. And as in a regular double action, the further back you pull the trigger the more paint is supplied. It comes with 4 paint cups, a rubber head guard and the tool to remove the cup from the brush. This brush has a 0.4mm needle/nozzle but H&S needles and nozzles will fit and work in it. This is a great looking airbrush. I'm talking with a friend who modified his T2 and I plan to do the same with this one. I will hot rod it . Edited July 29, 2022 by DPNM 1

Mike C. Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Won it on eBay last night but its gotta come from all the way across the country before I can hold it. The Revell 1/16 rears, leaf springs, drive shafts, wheels, tires and shocks from the swamp monster kit. I have been looking for a lot of these things for a long time now, but it seems like every time they come up for auction the go into the stratosphere pricewise. The buy it now price was around $24 so I hit it. Now I can finally make my '55 Chevy Nomad into a 4x4 like I always wanted. I have a 1/18 tire/wheel set coming in August so I probably won't be using these massive tires so if anybody thinks they can use them, drop me a line and we can work something out. I will need a 1/16 transfer case so maybe that could be a trade. 1

stavanzer Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Made a trip to H.L. today. First time I've had the desire to look. Had one follow me home, a late birthday gift from a friend. HPI Guy's review sold me on it. Thanks, Chris! I base a buy/no buy decision on your video's. Work again. 2

Thanks Ray, that's good to know since I like using Tamiya sprays. Also important to know it is a good idea to use white primer.
PierreR89 Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I bought a new revell volvo F12 kit, this one does not have any shortshots. Only problem with this kit is that the tires have started to rot. Decals are bad in both kits. My plans for both of these kits are to build one box stock and modify the other to an Australian version with a flat roof instead of the globetrotter roof. It is going to look something like revells australian volvo F12. Have also ordered a few parts for that build from auslowe. The top pic is the new kit with bad tires, the bortom has good tires but a bad frame. Also got a gmc astro to go with my chevy titan. I think i am going to buy one more astro kit and put in the turbine engine in that. 3
stavanzer Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Neat Kits, Pierre! I hope you can replace the rotting tires with resin replacements.
