Maybe establish with whoever you're getting these kits from just what your expectations are for their condition when you receive them. As part of your purchase or traded kit how the boxing and shipping is to be done so that the kits arrive in a usable condition. I questioned one seller that clearly stated in his description that he only shipped kits with brown paper wrapping. He told me he'd been shipping that way for years with no issues or damage. He also told me that using a box would cost extra. I took his word and let him ship it as he wished, his kit arrived unscathed. A couple of others, not.

The few trades that I have been involved in have all arrived just fine and mine going out were received in the same condition. In those cases, we used some sort of outer boxing that protected the kit. But I still see many others here that seem to have this problem, and it seems that every time the shipment was sent with minimal outside protection and that is why I even bring this up. 1
Rob Hall Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I recently received an expensive resin kit from a big name caster, it was in a sturdy mailing box with parts bagged, bubble wrapped and wrapped in newspaper. One corner of the mailing box was mashed in an inch or so. Luckily, no damage. 2

Rob Hall Posted February 19 Posted February 19 The latest anomaly with shipping I've dealt with is the Indianapolis USPS black hole..I've had two international items routed there then they get no tracking updates for 10-15 days, then they seem to be in motion again. Very weird...
Matt Bacon Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) Didn't know this -- either the car or the Transkit -- existed until one of those browsing eBay for things about to end moments. Chris at C1 always makes beautiful masters, and I'm sure I can figure out how it all goes together! It'll solve my "problem" of having a vanilla Hasegawa 2002 and also the turbo kit with M-sport stripes by making something different out of the less sporty version... There's a vacformed windscreen on the right, some additional door cards an seats in resin, and some pre-cut flat PET or styrene sheet for the flat windows. Loads of pics of a real one to feast your eyes on here: https://www.carandclassic.com/la/C1799427 And I rather like the colour and interior trim... best, M. Edited February 19 by Matt Bacon 5
Bill Eh? Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I've been working on a different kind of kit lately, a DIY speaker kit. I had ordered 1/2" thick industrial felt as a sound deadening agent for inside the cabinets. The location where I picked up the felt was happily on the same street as another LHS (Panther Hobbies). I stopped in with one kit in mind, the Stranger Things '85 Chevy K5 Blazer. I can hardly wait until the final season airs. I thought I had missed out on the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but found one on the shelf. I bought the newly reissued Tamiya Renault 5 Turbo, because I wanted to compare it with the rally version that I have. Finally the Goodyear Polyglas GT set, because you can never have too many wheel/tire sets on hand! LOL 6

I shall be getting a couple of these, esp the Super Dexta as we had one that we used to work the groves. Put a lot of time on it as a kid along with the NAA that we used to do irrigation lines. 1

He said I could take ones I was interested in, and being I had loaned him some money in the past, this is like a partial repayment. Several were our father's before he passed away. Most are un-started save for the Superbird, Brooks Daytona, and Bonneville. Interested in letting the Sox and Martin go I was gifted on by my grandfather when was 13 and he stated had to build so I did and now ide like to get another one and build it way better and have them side by side DM’s open if interested

They could do up a nice 6.2 diesel, add some tow points and stuff and they have a pretty decent 1/25th Blazer M1009 CUCV! Edited February 20 by oldcarfan 5

One bone stock, one lifted with 35s, and the other two to become M1009s in the future. I actually put a shout out about this very thing.
