Last purchase of 2022 that I will have in my hands. There are others but they'll start coming through in 2023....

On the way to the coast for a walk and some fresh air managed to swing by the big Hannant's wholesale/mail order warehouse. It's rather odd being in this building with thousands and thousands of kits, even just the Hasegawa section I was in had plenty that I would have loved to get. I restrained myself to just this Starlet, which was on special offer, and the Tamiya TS aerosols which were being cleared out. A lotof them were just £1.99 each and even with a few more expensive ones they averaged out at well under £3 a can which is less than half most retailers sell them for. The chap said they're going to stop doing them, whether he meant Hannants selling them or Tamiya producing them I don't know, but it was well worth getting these. Never used the Pearl Clear before, could be an interesting way of adding some interest to the solid colours in this selection.

The Halfords automotive primer and clearcoat work nicely in my experience, they seem to be happily compatible with the TS colours (and of course their own spray cans which I get whenever I see any older colours on clearance).

I ordered one of those 1:25 parking garage display cases after seeing @TimKustom’s review of one in the magazine a couple of months back…was a fun evening project!

Of course, I won’t be able to leave well enough alone so it’ll be getting some tweaks to improve the realism - but even out of the box it looks great and LED lighting is a nice touch!

So where do you get these display cases?

My FMS 1/18 RC square body Chevy K-10 arrived today. I tossed the finger board in the back. It's nice but it's a little more like 1/10 or so. I never owned a radio controlled vehicle.  I'm happy with this one just sitting on the shelf after I make a few improvements.

It’s same kit as Farrah’s Foxy Vette with green car, Farrah 😍 and Barris comments.
Never had Ecklers so unsure of side pipes. Same chassis as AMT annuals

Noticed TL 6 round lights on Ecklers.
Foxy had Camaro 74-78 wraparounds, kinda undersized in kit

For those following along, I've been going through the Hot Rod Magazine archives, and am now up to Y2K. As I've been posting items of interest on this forum, I have naturally been motivated to order certain kits, diecasts, resins, etc. for future builds. I am now up to number 19 of such purchases.

An ad in HRM November 1998 showed the Franklin Mint '57 Chevy racer, and immediately caught my eye.

Besides buying this diecast on ebay, I also wanted to get a kit for a full-on custom. The Revell Snap Tite  '57 Bel Air did the trick, and it comes with flame decals

Hot Rod Magazine September 1998 issue had a write-up on collectible kits and diecasts of the time. One such kit was the "Hurst Hairy Olds"  - an AWD twin engine show beast I had never heard of before.

Finding one was no trick, as they were initially released in the 60's and 70's by Monogram, and re-released in the 90's by Revell. I scored one of the Monogram models on ebay

Out of curiosity how did your build go on this Mustang Carl? I've had pretty good success with a number of the other Monogram kits from that era.

I did ok had a nice paint job but was left behind and when I went to get my models my ex thru them out. I remember I was a kit  that didn’t have many pieces..
