I picked these up off of Ebay over the last couple of weeks. I managed to get most of them for fairly less than typical prices. I got the Heller Lotus, shipped, for right at $30. The MPC Lotus was $25, shipped. The guy who sold the Shahan car probably would have done much better with an auction, honestly. He'd probably have gotten another $30-$35 for it. It's a beautiful example! Box is near mint. The Fire Fighter and Willys were both right around "market value." I'm trying to illustrate that, if you decide on the things that would be most important, to you, and are willing to watch diligently and wait, you don't have to pay insane prices to get some fairly desirable stuff--sometimes, even--truly a bargain. The problem with diligent watching, is you find other things that maybe you weren't actually looking for!? That's when I "get mad at Ebay!"

Picked these two up pretty cheap.  This is my first promo.  Usually when I find one it’s way out of my price range.  This one needs a little tlc at the a pillar, but nothing that can’t be fixed.

Question for you promo guys out there.  Is this one AMT?  I know nothing about these.

AMT.  They pretty much had a stranglehold on Ford promos through 1972.  Jo-Han landed some Ford promo business but produced only three ('70 Maverick, '71 Mercury Comet, '72 Gran Torino).  MPC did even less business with Ford, only doing Mustang II promos for '74 and '75.

Does it say 1979 Revell on the bottom?

You're asking the wrong guy. You might try reading what he wrote though, and comparing his pictures to your kit. Same cheesy underhood detail. Same bucket seat interior. Same long bed.

That's what I was guessing,  just based on the molding quality.  Just has that vintage AMT "feel" about it.

AMT did a lot of mid 60s promos in that gold color... I have a few in that shade..

Got an amazing deal today. All complete and sealed inside. Not like I needed more kits but I just couldn’t pass it up. All of them for one money.

My eBay purchase arrived today. I knew that when I had purchased it the cellophane was partially torn but not enough that the kit contents could have been tampered with. Being that I have this inquisitive nature I had to open it just to see what color the kit was moulded in. To my surprise it was yellow instead of the blue or green that I've seen them in before. Anyway... Upon farther inspection of the contents I found that the kit had an extra chrome rim laying in the bottom but was missing part of the lower seatbelt assembly from the tree. No big deal but I was wondering has anyone else had this type of experience when opening a vintage kit?

I've got one of those Petty Plymouth kits in yellow also.  That little streak in the lower right corner of the artwork (under the front bumper) read "molded in Petty Blue" on the earliest examples but was soon blanked out.  Does that one have two-piece tires and plastic rod axles?  Again, only the earliest ones (that issue first appeared in 1972) had hollow, one-piece tires and wire axles.  The $1.73 price tag would seem to point to an early one.

Yes it has the plastic axles and two piece tires.

Waiting on the doorstep when I got home.... Previously built the GTI kit and liked it so much I bought another, the Torino I'd have never gotten had I not seen the thread here about this kit.

These came in the mail today. I found a guy on Marketplace and I think he's just a kit seller. His prices are very reasonable if not down right cheap. And your package arrives in a matter of a couple days. I buy all the Round Two new releases from him. I know the Corvette isn't new but it was a bargain.

Nice score from your local marketplace, it can be a great place for possible deals.

Yesterday when I went shopping at my local walmart I was flabbergasted when I saw that they are now selling model kits and at decent prices.  I had to pick up the reissue of the AMT '55 Chevy nomad wagon.

This guy sells kits all the time Mike. He has at least 50 current kits on his sight. I went to my Walmart. Nothing. Not that I need more. But it seems like the same thing with Ollie's. No rhyme or reason.

Kijiji strikes again. I notified fellow model club members of the listing and provided them with a list of kits available. The combined order was finalized yesterday, mailed yesterday and arrived today! Lots of Japanese goodness. First three kits go to friend Alex. Next two kits go to friend Ken. The next kit goes to friend Peter. The remainder go to friend ME! LOL

Got these in the mail today. Now I can start using some of the tires in the package. I was afraid to before because I only had one of the tire sets.

The 305 has been a kit I have wanted for years. My Dad had a 65 305 Dream all throughout my childhood. Now that I have this he tells me the kit is of a Super Hawk and not a Dream. Oh Well. Close enough of a starting point to build a model of his Dream.

Later-
