Finally arrived today!!! I really wanted one, but was kinda put off by the price... Most Canadian shops asked 350$CAD (around 255$US), with the best price I've seen being 299$CAD (218$US); which was still a bit much for me. But, remembering what happened with the 1/12 Lancia Delta, which sold for the same prices when new, but went on sale after a while around 200$CAD (146$US) for the San Remo Rally version which I jumped on, I stayed patient. Then shoutout to Great Hobbies, which about a week and a half ago had one of their "overstock sales" and I was fortunate enough to get the last one at 209$CAD (152US$)!!!! Couldn't let that one go by!!!

This protractor with grooves to cut into. The straight scale has grooves every 5 mm. Without having tried this tool feels very promising.

The black one is from 1979, and it is 100% complete and unbuilt. The Magnum one was from 1982, partially bult, painted, and missing parts and instructions. The cost of both combined was less than a 1/4 of what a sealed Magnum Ferrari sells for. The Magnum one had a bar code. The Black one does not.

Recent auction wins....all at current MSRP price. All three sealed inside.

Missed out on the Pro Stock Camaros when they were first released.

Round2 has been taunting us with the 78-81 Camaro for a while now so I jumped on it in case it doesn't come to fruition

Today's goodies...

Latest HLJ shipment

And the a little piece of unobtainium multimedia resin. This Subaru was put out by Hobby Design right before the Alpha Modlels thing got started as a brand. So this is that type of full resin kit. It's been OOP for awhile and I let a few pass through my fingers since then. I accidentally found this one on eBay after talking about to someone else for what it cost new plus free shipping from Japan. Proving if you find the right seller there are still good deals to be found there on occasion.

As a rally marshal in the day this was my favourite car! We have in the UK a kit car manufacturer that makes just this!

My dad built that Reher-Morrison drag Camaro kit when it first came out around 1983. Still looks good to this day though he regrets not painting the body since the white plastic has now faded beige.

Just the box, I will repair, reinforce and varnish with Pledge before using it for ongoing projects. It will be so much nicer on the workbench no matter what I build.

This is how it turned out, I glued the inner box upside down in the outer box before soaking the box in Pledge. A new inner box I made of 2 mm cardboard which also got a layer of Pledge.
Now I can fully enjoy the box art.

The width of the compartments is just right for zip bags and a small special so that the steering wheel on the steering column can be stored safely during construction.

So hit my favorite shop in Vegas, Hobby Island .. small but I like it.

I had to stock up on my blue paint so got some variety, will have to ship the Spray home via Fed Ex or UPS though cuz I can't fly it home.

The bottles will go under plane.

I may grab some nippers and knife, and glue and primer and a few more colors to work on something in the evenings while I am in Vegas.

One of the benefits of work travel, I get to buy stuff from all over the US lol.

Sweet!!!! I've built (destroyed!) that Land Rover kit as a child! I've been on the hunt for another one ever since, and/or hoping Revell would re-release it! Good score dude!

it be raining 1/8 scale 1985 Corvettes. Seriously I would never buy a duplicate model of this size, but I wanted one that was sealed and got it for a great price compared to the others out there.  The one I originally purchased had some body damage that I was able to easily fix. It will be painted a different color. The sealed one will just be clear coated if I ever get the guts to break the seal.

No pics .. but snagged a pair of nippers, exacto knife, and some glue... gonna start doing some assembly on a couple kits I have, and maybe get them primed.  I figure if I preassemble things like block, rearend assemblies and paint them, when I get home I just have to do body paint and interior painting.

Plus I get to build while I on the road.

I am gonna build me a travel tool kit for modeling I can keep in my suitcase, and bring paint along (Minus sprays) and a couple kits each time I am on the road.

thats what i did when i worked on the boat. i recommend a small cutting mat as part of the travel set. i ended up with 2 of most things but thats not a bad thing. really all i was lacking was light.

I plan on going to HL after I eat dinner to hit it for a couple things, brushes, and now a cutting mat.   I have been on the road a lot for work, and was like man, I wanna build.. but yeah.

Is there anything else you can think of? I am gonna get a pencil box that has good locks to keep things from bouncing about in the suit case.

a tub big enough to put the kit inside (sometimes they get bashed in transit so why risk losing your work) and an organiser box for small parts and completed assemblies. a set of washable sanding sticks are handy too. I used to prime everything before taking to work and only did brush painted stuff there. i wouldn't take photo etch as its just too easy to lose. i'd just get cheap brushes for traveling with, theres no guarentee you'll get them cleaned and you can get packs of 50 small nail art brushes for ten bucks on amazon (look for white and purple handles). a second scriber is useful but depending on your knife you might get scriber and saw blades for it which saves carrying a tool. a photo film container is handy for blades too and masking tape. really the best way to decide what you need is to sit down with a kit and see what it needs. while we have lots of tools, i'd bet most of us use the same few most of the time and it might surprise you how few we actually lose. women have shoes, we have tools, lol

I went to the Riff Raff yearly model contest in Memphis, TN. The Indy car I bought at a great deal. 2 Slixx decal a friend of mine had for sale at the show. The group shot of models is what I won in the raffle. I will be posting pics from the later.

I will get a box big enough to hold a kit box for sure. I plan on priming things when home, and have a .. on the road kit always in prep. I use acyrlics for detail and such work, so always have water on hand lol.  I will hunt the nail brushes down for sure.

I have medicine bottles so can shove extra blades in it. And an extra 2 rolls of tape for masking.

And yeah we have tools, my wife has fabric for quilting lol.
