ChrisBcritter Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Got a steering wheel for the Hubley Renault Dauphine from Feretzrus (thanks again!); hopefully getting a rear bumper soon.(The steering wheel is from the Record kit; has anyone else built that one? Rare as hen's teeth from what I gather.)
Tom Geiger Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Got a steering wheel for the Hubley Renault Dauphine from Feretzrus (thanks again!); hopefully getting a rear bumper soon. (The steering wheel is from the Record kit; has anyone else built that one? Rare as hen's teeth from what I gather.) Do you mean this one?? I fished this one out of the 'bay a while back. Don't think I paid a lot. I wasn't sure if there was a kit, or just a promo. It's pretty crude, but is the only game in town for an Opel of this era.
ChrisBcritter Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Neat Opel! But no, I'm talking about the French company "Record" that released a 1/25 kit of the Dauphine (they also made a Floride/Caravelle). It was full detail and had a multi-piece body, about on par with the early Revell kits.
Daddyfink Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I have been chasing this grail for a few years. I finally stepped up to the price. It came in pieces and am happy about that. The Seller removed them so they would not break off. It should be easy to reassemble. No broken or missing parts. The build is actually very clean with a little detail added. Hosted on Fotki Wow, this brings back a few memories! Loved these kits when I was a young kid. Definitely a Holy Grail for me.
disabled modeler Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) Wow, this brings back a few memories! Loved these kits when I was a young kid. Definitely a Holy Grail for me. Me too...Id love to have even just the box..! Edited March 16, 2017 by disabled modeler
ChrisBcritter Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Stopped at the Libertyville HL and picked up a Molotow masking pen on clearance for $4.10 (reg. $18.99!); will try it out to compare it with Micro Mask and report back...
ChrisBcritter Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 ^^^ I wonder if anyone has ever taken the body from one of these to build a stock school bus? (With about ten jillion modifications of course.)
Snake45 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 ^^^ I wonder if anyone has ever taken the body from one of these to build a stock school bus? (With about ten jillion modifications of course.)I've thought of it, but I don't think the body's big enough. But I think one might be able to do something interesting and rod-ish with it, putting it on a truck chassis of some kind.

(With about ten jillion modifications of course.)Chris, RMR has a few busses he sells. As far as that kit goes a short bus from the 50's has a wheelbase close to a truck with a long bed so this has too many windows besides being chopped. We had 2 different full size buses as campers as kids. A 55 Ford and then a little longer 68 Ford, both were Superior Coach brand. My buddy has a 50's Studebaker short bus he wants to make a camper out of. This thing is short and very cool. Edited March 13, 2017 by 1930fordpickup

Rodent Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Flea Market find Today, Old school Kits Don, what flea market has that kind of stuff? Seems like none of the thrift stores and such have models around here. If they did, they would think the Corvette was really from 1957 and ask $100 for it.

Scott Colmer Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 This just arrived from e-bay. It is built by Al Hogue from the Great North. He did an excellent job. And.... because he did such a great job packing it, it went straight into the display case. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
Mr mopar Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 this is what the Mailman dropped off yesterday , 1/8 scale NICE!
Mike999 Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I go just for the purpose of HOPING to find model kits, it is a Hit and Miss nobody out there sales just Model Kits...Same here, on the opposite coast (South Carolina). And if they are selling just model kits/diecasts, they probably have "eBay Fever" and it's very hard to deal with them. I have several big flea markets near me. All have a mix of "permanent" sellers with the same space every week, and "one-day" sellers who just get a random table for the day. At one flea market, a permanent seller has a big banner on his space advertising "collectibles" - always a bad sign. Every week he has the same huge pile of NASCAR kits and die-casts that everybody else is trying to dump for about $1 each. But his are priced at or above the original price. I know anybody can ask whatever they want, but that just doesn't make much sense. My best flea-market find so far was 4 built AMT kits, all from 1960 - Ford truck & trailer, Corvair, T-Bird and Corvette. All 4 have "custom" parts glued on and most of the decals used. (The glue is so old, a lot of the custom parts are falling off.) But no paint, and all trim and emblems are intact. That's the kind of find that keeps me going back to flea markets. And even if I "miss" for the day, I still get some good exercise...
o-man Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I got a bunch of stuff from Hobby Search and a few things from Amazon, The BRZ and TE27 came from Amazon

cobraman Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 No surprise I guess that I bought another one of these. Got this one to build and not for the collection. Found a pic of a Cobra with a rather strange wing I want to build.
