It looks funky, and, she said it was really fast around the parking lot!!! Enjoy!!! I don't know what engine this has in it. Edited September 12, 2013 by gbdolfans
Jordan White Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Based on the valve covers and rear mount distributor, I'd say big block Chevy. Certainly is the ultimate "grocery getter"!
PappyD340 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I just saw that same rig about 2 wks ago pass me on the highway, George is that the Biltmore Estate? wouldn't want to have to pay for a buggy full of groceries in that one!!!
Renegade Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Very cool but some people have way too much time on their hands.
sjordan2 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 The Food City supermarket chain here in Tennessee has one of those which they use for promotional purposes, in shows and at the Food City 250 and 500 races. When I was doing their advertising, I shot a commercial with Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. where Dale Jr. was driving it around.
Harry P. Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Jairus did a magazine how-to on building a model a lot like that once. Can't remember which issue.

Yep, having seen this recently, I can say it is a Big Block Chevy. Not too sure I would enjoy driving that, looks a little top heavy.
slusher Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Do you think it would pull the front wheels off the ground???

Yes,it is the Biltmore..It looks like it would be a handful to drive.I would have loved to see and hear it run!!!! She said it was not loud.
Tom Geiger Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Ken Hamilton sells a 1/25 scale photo etched shopping cart kit. Get that and you could build this in HO scale!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Tom, that's a great idea. That would look so cool.

Art Anderson Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Wonder if I'll see this thingie at Goodguys at Indianapolis next weekend? Art
Skydime Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Cool. You can tell the times are changing. Ten years ago someone would have mounted this to the trunk lid of a Honda Civic.
bigphoto Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 This might be a start! http://scale-structures.com/3-engine-kits-ford-flathead-v-8-chevy-small-block-v-8-dodge-flathead-6-cylinder-1/
crazyjim Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Saw that shopping cart, or something very similar in Melrose Park, IL at least 15 years ago.
Joe Handley Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Saw that shopping cart, or something very similar in Melrose Park, IL at least 15 years ago. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same one, but with a Jewell/OSCO sign on it around the same time at Railroad Days.
Craig Irwin Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 A local race car fabracator built one for our local supermarket chain, which sold out to Kroger a few years later. Maybe this is where it ended up.
lordairgtar Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 (edited) Jairus did a magazine how-to on building a model a lot like that once. Can't remember which issue. It actually was a model of what Unk's varmints from CarToons mag did to a speed shop's cart. That would have required a normal sized cart to make. The store promo cart is a monster. blunc Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 that's the cart I use for shopping at Costco.
