After getting sick (strep throat, turned into a bad case of bronchitis) during our first real vacation in 20 years last week (beach trip),which means I missed a week's pay,we had to replace 2 phones and the FJ's alternator went down this week. Today though (icing on the cake),my supervisor told me to leave and go to the doctor (mighta had something to do with coughing so bad I hurled my lunch in her trash can,LOL) to get a slip, and fill out an LOA (leave of absense) for 6 days to get better....so another week's pay gone :(

Still coulda been worse,I got to flog a modded 11 second car on a back road, and I DID wake up breathing :P

Apparently Photobucket has decided that if you want to continue to use their site to host pictures, they want $400 A YEAR!  Looks like it is time to grab my external hd, start pulling relevent pics, then send them an f-u letter.

This irked me too this morning. This is not how I planned to spend my weekend!

Come over to Fotki.  I just checked my renewal options and it's $18.36 for a year for 100GB of space.   Or $36.96 for 300GB.

Sign up for a single year because they have renewal sales periodically.  I've re-upped my accounts for 5 years at a time on these sales.

Took a new job 95 days ago and in addition to being more of what I used to do, it was more pay and seemed to be a better company than where I was. Things were going well and I enjoyed the job and was starting to hit my groove and connect with customers (it was a field sales position). Spent this week with my boss making calls and trying to land new business, long days but they can be rewarding.

Boss stays over until today instead of heading back home yesterday as planned, says we have to do my 90 day review and cover a few things to make sure I am up to speed on certain things. Says to meet him at the hotel this morning around 11 so I make sure all of my reports and expenses are done so I am in compliance with the rules. Imagine my surprise when I walk in to meet him and the HR lady is there! At first I figure it might be policy to have her there for the review but then they hand me a letter and tell me I am no longer needed. I can't understand why they hired me only to let me go citing a lack of business, which they were aware of before they hired me!

Gotta love corporate America. Work hard and they stick it to you. Second time in less than 2 years, start to wonder what the heck is wrong with me or is it just bad luck?

Just a minor irk. Those items you buy in a blister package can at times be far more difficult to open than they need to be. Thank you .

Hope things get better Mike, in which they will just have faith

Sorry to hear this kind of news. I lived in Charlotte for 20+ years and finally got out of the rat race there. Moved back to my birth town of Lenoir in the mid 70's. Never a regret doing that. Back in those days, I could quit a job and go to another one the same day and start working the same day. No way can you do that now. I am retired now and don't regret it a bit. I don't know what your work field is but don't let it get you down. Something else is out there for you. Since we are fairly close, maybe we can meet and talk models someday.

Good luck on your job venture.

Photobucket changed their "terms of service" on June 20, with a new pricing plan. Only the $399 per-year option will allow linking to photos stored there to display in online forums ("3rd party hosting"). Many free users have had their accounts frozen and their pictures blocked, and have received emails to this effect.

So far, as far as I know, paying members have not yet been shut down or emailed.

people and their entitled attitudes... more and more everyday... drives me bat BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH crazy.

AND... according to my girlfriend, road rage is an understatement for me... but... today while traveling to my parents, doing 60 down the highway, this little kia thing pulls out in front of me... I had to slam on my brakes to keep from slamming into her. We then traveled 40mph down the road... I don't mind the speed limit, and generally drive it, but atleast DO IT... then out of nowhere about 1000 yards down the road, she turns off... $@%&^$#@#$%%#$^#@#%##^$@##$#^##$%@@#$@!@$@##$^@&*$@%@%%^$#$%@%##%%@$$%@^^@$%##% that pizzes me off!!!!!

Oh geez...that's just unbelievable.

All that beautiful, inspirational work, no longer available for anyone to see on the web.

Memories of a good and gone forever friend, destroyed in a moment of idiotic greed.

I really hope a gang of muggers get the little pieces of s--- who did this stuff and beat them into bloody jello.

I had been working with Harry's son, Gary, for sometime now to get access to the model photos on Harry's Photobucket. He, understandably,  would not grant me control of the whole account because there are also personal photos stored there. I can get into it to see the majority of the model photos, but there is no option to download them. I can only get the links to embed them, which doesn't help us. Gary had agreed to leave the photos in place so as not to break any of the links, so we were good right up until Photobucket changed their terms. I am still trying to see what I can work out.

"technically", if you can see them on your computer then you have already downloaded them...albeit possibly in a "lo-res" format.

you can then "save image as" or take a screen shot and paste into your favorite paint program.

The only option I have to "download" them is to right click the photo and "Save image as..." All I am getting are the reduced size versions. The access I have is limited, I can see the photo but it is in a cropped frame with no option to view it full size. There are a lot of photos!

So we get our auto insurance renewal, price increase. We get a notice from our pest control company which comes 3 months, price increase. Also believe it or not we get a notice from our home warranty company, monthly fee increased, in addition the service call fee we pay has also increased. I know you all go through very much this same thing but gee, when will it end ? I know, never.  Now waiting for increases in wife's pay and my SS increase. No,. I am not holding my breath !

Every time we get increases like that I call the place and tell them I'll have find a less expensive outfit.  "Oh, you've been a customer of ours for many years and always pay on time.  Let me talk with my manager".  They come back on the phone and say they can maintain the current price.  Sometimes I add that I'm a senior living on a fixed income.  Might want to give it a try, Ray.  The worst they can is no deal.

Today's predominantly short-sighted and downright stupid business practices (see the PhotoBucket fiasco for clear evidence of this on a global scale) have no remaining sense of appreciation for customer loyalty, desire to provide QUALITY goods or services, or anything even remotely resembling ethics, for the most part.

Make a fast buck today, screw tomorrow. Morons, greedy morons, everywhere.

Can you blame the peripherally-engaged for being short-sighted? How often are we told that something or someone is going to kill us (or at least take all that we have) at any given moment? (legitimate threats notwithstanding)

I'd have an easier time understanding your point if you would elaborate on your definition of "periphially engaged".

Far as being told "something or someone is going to kill us (or at least take all that we have) at any given moment" goes, only a few years prior to my birth, the first atomic weapons had been used in anger. The world was a little jittery then, and for good reason. School kids were taught the "duck and cover move" (not that it would do much good) and every time a big plane flew over, a lot of people looked up in fear. Some people used THAT as their justification to screw unto others as fast as you can, but it was far from the seemingly universal standard-operating-procedure it has become.

Today, the only real threat any individual faces is that some sociopath, hiding behind a poorly-reasoned religious or ethnic grievance, may open up on a room or street full of innocent bystanders.

It's not quite the same thing as an ever-present threat of global thermonuclear holocaust.

And I do get so very tired of excuses and justifications for everything these days, no matter how morally reprehensible.
