This is similar to the timid drivers who stop at the end of the on-ramp entering the freeway as if threw was some invisible stop sign instead of the "merging traffic" or Yield sign. I've seen them do that regardless of whether there is any traffic in the right lane of the freeway!  This really sucks if you happen to be behind them, expecting to pick up speed to properly merge with the freeway traffic.  Now you slam on the brakes and entering the freeway suddenly becomes very difficult (unless you own a super-car capable of 0-60MPH in 2 seconds).

Driving has been real challenging for a number of years now as we have many more so called drivers on the road today and many of them drive with the hooray for me, FY attitude. This ain't the 60's anymore folks.

This is a merge of 2 major east-west freeways, and was designed in the 1960s. It's a real PITA, especially if there are trucks. Not sure what she was thinking, but she wanted to get over to take the next exit. If I need to go downtown in the morning,  I hop off at the last exit before the merge and take a large surface street that runs parallel to the freeway. It's actually faster most days.

If that is how you feel about it, isn't it time to trade her in for a new model?

I am all out of K&S brass rod.  That's why I tried to hit the Hobby Town in West Chester, Pa that's no longer there.  Then I went out of my way to go to Mainline Hobbies in Plymouth Meeting, Pa, who had an Evergreen rack but told me he got rid of the K&S brass rack because they sold it at Home Depot or Lowes... he couldn't remember which.  So today I hit both Home Depot, then Lowes and nope neither had K&S brass.  I had already tried Michaels and Hobby Lobby but out of sheer desperation I went to AC Moore which also didn't stock the product.  I am going to New Jersey tomorrow, and I will scream out loud if that hobby shop doesn't have a K&S rack!    If they do, I will make a sizable purchase and will be able to finish my Model As.

Looks like it is time to start buying directly from the source. http://specialshapes.com/   No online ordering, but you can actually call them, speak to a real person and place a phone order.   Actually Special-Shapes is a division of K&S.  I have been ordering brass shapes and thin-wall tubing from them long before they were acquired by K&S.  Take a look through their website to see what thy offer - lots of useful items (much wider selection than the usual K&S stuff in hobby shops).

Thanks guys, I will try the local ACE store if I strike out today at the hobby shop in NJ.

I'm trying to finish up my Monogram Model As and need a piece to make the radiator support rods. I also replaced most of the clunky chassis parts with rod so I want the sizes to complete a few more chassis.

So last week end I'm servicing my riding mower. This is a Sears mower I bought around 15 years ago. Only minor fixes thru the years so no complaints about that. The problem is that with Sears imploding business wise getting parts has become a problem. There are two drive belts on the mower deck and they are beyond frayed. I used to go to Sears and buy what ever I needed. Even for a couple of years after they closed the big retail store they had a small store for parts and so that wasn't a problem. Now that that has closed the only way to get the correct parts is to go thru Sears online. This is were everything went into the "pull chain facility". First off they wanted me to drive 150 miles to the nearest store that they would ship too, I'm not doing that.. In desperation I called their toll free number to speak to a human. There was a very big language barrier and even though I provided the part numbers she still managed to mess it up. I needed the two belt, she got those right. Needed an oil filter and that was ok also. I ordered the two part air filter. Even with the part numbers she kept talking about a gas filter which I can get locally for @2.98. I received my conformation from Sears and even though she had read the part numbers back to me she still managed to not include the air filters I needed and instead she ordered a fuel filter. Now Sears can't be reached on the phone, they aren't open yet according to the answering machine, and I'm still waiting for a reply to my E-Mail. When this ridder goes to the big composter in the sky I'll be looking at anything but a Crapsmen mower.

NAPA has all this stuff.

Well the mower fiasco is in the rear view mirror now. I got the Air Filter that I needed at Home Depot as well as the Fuel Filter. Sears sent an acknowledgment that they received the returned over price Fuel Filter and they were crediting our credit card. Well we all now know that Sears is filling for Bankruptcy so getting any refund will be doubtful at best. This whole mess started because I couldn't find the belts locally. I saved the belt packaging since it had Suzuki part numbers and I recorded those numbers in my owners manual for the future. Since these were the original belts from 2002 I have my doubts that it will still be in service in 2030. I do know it will not be under my butt for sure.

The hobby shop in NJ indeed had the K&S Brass rods I needed!  Yippee!  Now I can finish those Model As and have enough brass rod to last the next several years of projects.

The garage door spring broke, that is mildly irking .

That happened at my Dad's house. I called in a local company that had great reviews and the tech came out, had to cut a hole in the door (no other door, glass block windows and the cable wrapped itself around the track) so it could be opened.  He claimed the spring had to be ordered (okay....?)  I called his office and ordered the spring AND a replacement panel for the door since this one had a big hole.  Two weeks later another guy shows up with the spring (stating it was a standard part and the first quy should have had it on his truck) and no panel.  The office didn't order one.  Why would I replace the spring on a door with a hole.  Leave....just....leave.

Bought a close out door from Menard's.  Called their recommended installer and they wanted $400 to install it.  Um, no!  All other placed wanted to double dip selling the door AND installing it.  I bribed my 21 year old son with what it should cost (around $200) to do it with a YouTube video.

Wow, that sucks, that is almost a nightmare for something that should of been simple .

My 1995 Buick Le sabre's Transmission  is dying, Forward clutch plates are almost fried. So now I have to get a different car. Yea more money that I don't have.

My 2003 car has developed a parasitic battery drain. Fully charge the battery at night and by morning it's completely dead. I don't have any idea how to track down the drain so this could get expensive.

I've had that happen w/ two cars.  On one, the under hood light was stuck on (I noticed the glow under the car one night)--fixed that by removing the bulb; the other car it was a failing alternator.

It's not necessarily a drain. A single dead cell within the battery will create similar symptoms.

How old is the battery itself?
