Yes, I have noticed that the Regular Soft drinks do not foam as much, as the sugar free kind. As for drinking them, I drink 8-12 cans a week. I also drink Crystal Light (or the store brand equivalent) in huge quantities during the summer. AS in 1 or 2 gallons a day. I have an almost Bottomless Thirst, and drink a lot of water. TonyK Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Another irk today. Washing machine wants to do a "self clean cycle". Set the dial, close the door and hit the button. The display is lit but nothing happens so I turn it off and try again. Waiting and nothing happens but now I get a "door" message. No idea what that means but can't open the door. Long story short; read owners manual, look stuff up on the Internet and can't get it to work. Unplugged the thing a few times. Door is locked shut. Have to have a repair guy come out on Tuesday which is $115 charge just to come here. Oh, previous irk above that I lost a model part; I used a shop light and found it so there's that I can be thankful for. Rather have the washing machine working. 1

Doing a "self clean". Seems kinda pointless to me. And then of course the stupid bell/whistle fails and you have to pay to have it fixed. Just another example of today's obsession with unnecessarily complex and silly "features". Is this thing made by today's GM (sorry Mary...gm)? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Congrats on finding your part though. 1
stavanzer Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Fireworks. After Midnight here in California. Loud Booms still going on. Watched one Illegal Operation shoot Mortars for over 3.5 Hours!. About 11, the guy next door set off 45 minutes of Booms so loud that they set off car alarms for 20 minutes..... I'm sick of Fireworks, Sick of the Idiots who Blow them Up, and Sick of our Useless Fire Department, who makes nasty threats about "Really Cracking Down on Illegal Fireworks this year" , and once again, not following through. 1

Fireworks are legal here, and I'm used to them. So is the cat. No hay problema. And luckily it's been wet enough the past few weeks so there wasn't much danger of idiots setting fire to the neighborhood this year (it's happened before). BUT...as I live with my windows open most of the time and use a big exhaust fan to cool the house on summer evenings (gets it down to the 70s, thank you), about midnight I started smelling burning plastic. Had to go out and check everything to make sure there wasn't a fire on MY property (I have had fireworks land on my roof before, still burning, so that's not as much a Karen move as folks might think). Never did figure out where the stink was coming from, but by 02:00 it wasn't. Explosions started in again at about 05:30. Edited July 5 by Ace-Garageguy 1

I agree but it paused a few times at the end of a cycle and flashed it wanted to run a "self clean" cycle. Does seem stupid and reading the owners manual I decided I'd go ahead and do it. Big mistake! I hope to learn a couple of things from the repair person. Sometimes they can give you some tips about these bells and whistles with these new machines. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) I'm just SO sick to death of these ignorant AI "authoritative" documentaries on stuff they actually know nothing about. And the legions of little techie dwerbiges that click their little mousies to get AI to produce this garbage don't even know enough about the topics to edit the stuff the AI gets WRONG. There's one on yootoob now that states the heads and block of the classic smallblock Chevy 265 were "cast in one unit". It's full of other mistakes and omissions and uses the word "shocking!!!" too, but that's the most glaring. And the self-proclaimed World Guardian Against Misinformation, youtoob, does nothing. There's a generation that's going to swallow gibberish like that whole, and a whole new class of internet "experts" is emerging. Western civilization is doomed, not by artificial intelligence, but by artificial stupidity. Edited July 6 by Ace-Garageguy 6
89AKurt Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I'm irked that I don't have a legit First World irk to share. Aridzona legalized fireworks awhile ago, everyone was like "why?", and this part of the country still has a half decent LEO/Fire presence with helicopter flying over the fireworks. Oh yea, this could be an irk, the new hospital that was just built on the highway almost below me (just thought of measuring) is 0.36 mile away as the Medivac flies. I didn't see the plans, have to assume they did not show the helipad in the beginning. Then they slipped it in, a Hearing was held, as expected everyone close complained, given a Conditional Use permit which stipulates more landscaping, and a wall not a fence. We shall see. Each flight has a different approach, one followed the highway, another circled directly over my house, no set path. The City Of Prescott airport has been an ugly issue, property rights vs. crash zones. All I can say, considering how stupid people are driving anymore, I had a couple chances to get killed at that intersection just waiting to U-turn. So it could be me, getting taken down to the Valley Of The Open Oven Door. Oh yea, a new one, someone is multiple texting me, several separate times, like "oh yea I forgot, add that......" I've told her a few times to stop doing it, and she still is. So I just responded a few times in a row. 2

FoMoCo66 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 A neighbor set of a m80 in a watermelon 8 ft away from 15 little kids. They all got splattered and chunks flew for 20 yards. It's a miracle nobody got hurt. I left just before he started setting off the BIG STUFF, don't want to be involved with stuff goes south. 2

TonyK Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Repair guy came today to fix our washing machine. Needs a new mother board or some-such electronic part. Not very expensive but he doesn't have it so ordered it. Gonna be a couple of weeks! Meantime we're running out of clean clothes. Sister-in-law lives about 8 miles away and my son offered to come to his place which is farther away. Nice to have that available but still a pain. Meantime my mother-in-law appears to be dying. She's 95 so it's time. Oh, and I'm taking my wife in tomorrow for a steroid shot in the spine. Just a lot of happy happy joy joy.

I have washer/dryer but use a Laundromat for some really bulky items which won't fit in my washer.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Increasing amounts of "expert" advice served up by what seem to be entities as generally clueless as consumer-grade AI. They used to call this "the blind leading the blind", but since the advent of the interdwerbs, it's become SOP. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 11 Posted July 11 "Public service announcements" presented by people who sound like they're addressing Romper Room rather than intelligent adults. Hmmmmmm...maybe they have a point.

Ace-Garageguy Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I've been up nearly an hour and have nothing to complain about...yet. Remarkable. 1
ranma Posted July 12 Posted July 12 USPS hasn't just screwed up delivery of packages/mail! They decided to modify their Informed delivery app online. Once it was you signed in, then after it verified that you went to the next page to do what was needed, as clicking informed delivery. Page three would pop up so you could see what was supposed to be in that day's mail. After the Change (multifactor sign in) it can take 9 pages- to 20 if it decides to atomatically sign you out during the process of trying to access informed delivery! Changing things isn't always for the better that's for sure. It's supposed to reduce hacking of a USPS account online... Dumb indeed it's just like a car if someone is going to steal one , there going to steal one no matter what!

It never went to my head and I never followed the path of Hollywood stardom. 1 1

Which since the "new Improved" Mail no longer Updates for the next day at 8 pm EDT. Which was a nice feature so I knew if I needed to be home the next day.... 1
