In early December, a kid made threats of a bringing a gun to school and threats against a teacher as well as another student.  He arrested and became a guest of the county juvenile system.  His family tried to claim he's never been in trouble before, honors society, etc but the court disagreed and did not allow home release.

Every other school in the area that had similar incidents, the kid is expelled and prohibited from even being on school grounds.  Imagine my reaction when one of my sons friends moms texted me that this kid is back in class!!!  Seriously!!  No parental notice!  Absolutely unbelievable!!

Guess they don't want that levy to pass in May!

The punishment doesn't fit the crime anymore,  these kids could care less nowadays because very few parents have taught them about consequences for their actions.

There ARE no consequences for their actions.

Until it is too late and they get shot or killed, wondering the whole time, "What did I do...."

No truer words!!!!

The superintendent e-mailed me back that he cannot discuss the other child due to privacy laws.  I said if an adult would have done this it would be a terroristic threat and the law would have been all over them.

Even better, another parent got a call back from the principal that they cannot say if the kid that made the threats is back in school or not.  Wait.....the kid IS back in school hence the whole BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH storm!!!!

I've told my kids that there are rules and possibly laws in place because of stuff we did as a kid.  We certainly didn't threaten to shoot teachers and others.  I guess there is no rule of conduct anymore.

Good luck, Joe.

Thanks Snake, he’s in the ER at the local hospital right now waiting on the results of their Covid test since he had a home test come back negative and got the positive results email From Walgreens on their test this morning. He also thought it could have been strep throat, which he hasn’t had in at least 60 years, so they’re testing him for that too.  This is a nerve wracking time for this two, he turns 80 on Monday and last Thursday was the 2 year Anniversary of Mom passing away.

Might want to consider attending the next School Board Meeting and express your valid concerns. I would invite any other parents that you know to join you. Does your local TV station have a reporter that covers such news?

Ok, he does have Covid, but no strep, he’s getting a one time med for his sore throat and will let me know when I can pick him up. I wasn’t allowed to stay in there with him, so I’ve been waiting for him in his van in the parking lot.

I was half thinking that it might be worth checking the near by 7-11 to see if they have any cheap DVDs to buy, this van, my 200 and my Sister’s Challenger all have head units that are also DVD players so I could have watched that while waiting ?

Just want to echo Snake's "good luck", and to advise you try not to worry too much.

The reason I've been on this site so often recently is due to a bout with the latest variant keeping me at home, but not much worse than a nasty cold.

I'm pretty old, but in generally decent shape, so that helps I suppose.

I had the first variant back at the beginning, and it was like a very odd flu; I haven't required medical intervention either time, and I do test positive for antibodies.

Though it can potentially be serious, don't despair; if an old geezer like me can come through two versions OK...   :D

Thanks Bill, he’s already feeling better, I think yesterday was the worst of it for him. He did mention that the doctor that saw him had recently gotten over it too and told Dad that he had a nasty sore throat with his too. The doctor also asked Dad if he had been vaccinated yet and Dad told him yes on the 2 original shots, just hadn’t had the booster yet, the doctor told his that was good, as when they see non vaccinated people come in, not only are they not going home the same day like he did, a lot aren’t all going home at all.

Great to hear.

And though discussion of this topic is for the most part verboten, I would strenuously recommend that everyone research primary sources of information, and try to avoid swallowing whole the media's predominant position without educating yourself enough to make a well-informed judgment as to which version of the "truth" comes closest to reality.

There is "science", and there is actual science. They do not always agree.

Hope Dad will be OK.  In good hands if he's at CDH.

Thanks Jim, he was at CDH and only for a couple hours. And as of Midnight, he was feeling much, much better! As I stated before, He was lucky enough have a doctor that had Covid a month ago, plus with the exact same symptoms Dad had, so he already knew exactly what he was dealing with when he was assigned to Dad.

Having a bad week on the boat due to 2 different storms, lost both backup wires for the ropes, lost many ropes and had no more to put out, access gangway is no longer straight and flat and some minor flooding in the steering void that has to be manually pumped out. The worst bit for me is getting into to void as my shoulders are as wide as the hatch. Hopefully we'll get some new ropes today as we cant afford to lose more if we want to stay tied up. oh and we ran out of coffee too

Timid inexperienced drivers! We are having a bit of a storm here and we got behind some driver who had one set of wheels in the northbound lane and one set in the south bound lane. Doing 40 kmh in a 60 zone with their 4 way flashers on. Visibility wasn’t really bad at that point. They actually pulled over completely into the oncoming lane (no oncoming traffic) so that we could get past them.

They may need to be checked for what they call around here "Impaired Driving". Sounds like either drink, smoke, or Rx may have been involved. Yesterday we had some good rain in a lead up to a little snow last night. So, I'm driving home on a three lane hiway, three lanes in each direction. 70 mph area with a medium to heavy traffic flow around the start of the evening rush hour. For some unknown reason the slowest lane is the center lane. There are several eighteen wheelers going 65 + in and out of the right-hand lanes and another that is sitting in the fast lane and will not move over for anybody. The center lane opens up for a minute and a guy in a lifted 4X4 goes for it and I follow. That's when the left lane sitter decides we're going to race.  I put my foot down on my Charger and had just enough room between the back of the 4X4 and the closing big rig to get into the fast lane. After that I look back and there's all kinds of open hiway behind me and there is solid wall of big rigs blocking all three lanes and the traffic is backing up behind them. Where's a Highway Patrol when you need one.

Ordered a set of tires through Amazon for my boss a couple days ago; new Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max. Extremely quick delivery - dropped off on the front porch this morning, and...

No, they didn't get stolen.

Yes, they're brand new with factory labels.

But... check out the date codes:

April, June and July 2017 - almost five years old.

Amazon did OK a refund; hope the seller doesn't stick me for the shipping

You're probably one of 10 Amazon customers...or employees for that matter...who even knows tires have date codes.

Today would have been my mom's 83rd....had she taken her blood pressure meds.  She was good for going to the Dr but if she didn't like the way it made her feel, she tossed it in the drawer and never followed up with her Dr.  She was constantly on dads butt about taking his meds when I was a kid.  Dad outlived her by eight years.

She had a stroke 13 years ago and we 'pulled the plug' within 48 hours.  Purging the house as this devastated my dad, we found Rx after Rx virtually untouched.
