I was trying to count how many models that I've finished so far this year, because I know it was a lot. I reviewed all the "Under Glass" posts that I made so far in 2013, and I came up with a grand total of 20 finished models so far this year...!!! That is an all time world's record for me in all the years that I have been building models. I thought I did good last year when I finished 13 models between NNL East 2012 and NNL East 2013.

I don't try to break any records for speed in building. I guess the fact that I am retired and have a lot of time to spend at my workbench is the answer, along with a good supply of models and materials. My daughter sometimes tells me that I build models like it is my job. In a way I guess it is. To me it's better than sitting in front of the TV all day watching mindless, so-called entertainment.

There are 3 weeks left for this year and I have 2 models sort of "in-the-works". I don't doubt that I'll have at least one of them done before the ball drops on New Years Eve.

What is your record number of finished models in a year?

My high was twelve in a year. My low came this year at one.

What is this unknown term ' finished ' ?????

In all seriousness if i had to guess maybe 3 or 4 with maybe 6 tops

In recent years if I get more than one done in a 12 month span I call it a good year

"Finished" is a foreign word. :D

I never kept track of the number but my peak had to be in the late 60s or early 70s when I had more time in the summer between the school years. Now I'm lucky to finish four or five a year,if even that many.

Since I have about 1200 unbuilt kits now,I look at them as life insurance.I plan to live to be 400 years old so I can build them all.So far,so good!

I built 6 between during last winter's buildling season.

I don't count the building year from January to December since I only build in the winter. My build season usually starts in late September and ends just around the time of the NNL East, which is in April, so it lasts about 8 months altogether. I really only get to build about an hour a day on average. There are usually some projects that take more than a month and then I throw some out-of-the-box quickies in there.

So you made me go count 'em! I found the easiest way was to review my photo back up folder, where I have every photo I took this year in one place.

That gives me 3 completed builds for the year, so far. That would be my '34 Ford rat rod, '53 Stude Miss Deal funny car and the Model A pickup rod I just finished. The Rusty Corvette had needed the engine completed and to be buttoned up. I did some work on it today and it should be finished tonight or tomorrow, giving me 4 completed builds. I do have 3 more that are so near done that I may pull them off by year's end. That would be the Heller Citroen Bordens milk truck, Dodge Caravan taxi and the Dodge van camper. Each have maybe a days work each, so that would give me 7 completed models. That would be my all time record!

I also did two Olde Kustom restorations. There was a red '49 Ford and the two tone blue '57 Ford that were restored back to the way they looked when someone built them in the early 1960s.

And in the negative column, I started more projects that aren't done. I started a '62 Valiant taxi, the Dodge Caravan CV commercial van (which was nearly done and went back for a paint strip!), a '62 Valiant station wagon, a Polystil metal old Mini Cooper that was an old builtup that I stripped, and the '51 Chevy Traveler camper. So that's another 5 still on the unfinished shelf.

And I will work on the 1960 Plymouth airport limo as my Christmas Amnesty project. So it will either be the last finish of the year, or the first of 2014.

3 to 4 tops, I have 3 completed this year and I have another couple in the works but they won't make it this year, I was hoping one of them might but the weather just has not cooperated so I can go out and paint, I have put my request in with Santa for a spray booth so maybe I can get some painting done in about three weeks or so. MAYBE!!!! :D

In past years I have done 12 a year but last couple years I have had about 5 a year. Disability slowing me down but quality is always my first goal always like so many builders here.

For some reason, starting in 1992, I began to keep track of how many and what models I built each year. This record keeping has become such a habit that I can't think of not continuing it. Since 1992 (22 years) I have built 125 models for an average of 5.7 models per year. When I retired in 2006 my completion rate rose and 57 of those 125 were finished since then. In the last four years I've built 10 a year and I suspect that this is the maximum that I could complete in a year. I'm a slow builder.

Went from seven last year to really focusing and putting all my effort and adding every detail possible into one single build. Turned out to be my best model so far by a longshot.

I just got back into this hobby its been thirty five years I built 21 and got two third place finishes at the model club . I am hooked

I am at three for the year - I think. I can't build (or very limited) from May to October, so that's only a partial year thing...

Back when I was in my teens, it seems like I did about 15-20 a year, since returning to the hobby in 2008/9, I maxed out at four or five.
