What did you see on the road today?

Went for the first cruise in the Highway Star in 2 weeks last evening. Two Wednesdays ago was the last time and it was a rainy day that my dad drove it to Jiggerz to get chrome exauhst tips welded on. Since then it was literally raining everyday or we were busy on the nice days so going out again yesterday was nice. Even nicer because we saw another 1969 Pontiac LeMans, a half-done GTO clone, with the signature front bumper and lower valence but still retained stock appearing LeMans tailights and trunk badging. Scrambled to get a photo so I only got it as it was going. We've seen it before while in the Highway Star and interestingly enough this car was for sale in southern Ontario quite a while ago and my dad had the ad bookmarked for the longest time. Funny how it came up here. Hasn't gone to any shows yet but we'd be inclined to talk to the guy.

Cool that you got to see another Lemans. I like seeing them more than the gto,as most have been turned into gto's through the years. Kind of how there's more willy's coupes and cobras today than they actually ever produced.

My mom saw this in the parking garage under where she works. Usually there are quite a few classics stored there over the years, like a 1978 Monte Carlo, and a 1952 Nash Statesman. Last year I was there once and saw a car under a cover, just the bumper and tires sticking out. Figured it was a '71-'72 Buick for sure because of some of the bumper I could see. Today, the cover was actually off and so it turns out that it's a 1974 LeSabre convertible. Looks to be in pretty great shape.

Austin-Healey 3000, cream white with red side coves, trunk luggage rack and matched leather suitcases. The occupants appeared to have smiles. (saw for about 3 seconds going the other way on the freeway).  Also a dark red Alfa Romeo GTA in good though not prime condition.  Again, going the other way.  Not bad for a Wednesday.

Backed all the way in and still overhangs the space by two feet. Just like it should.

I didn't see much today, between Las Vegas and Twin Falls (I have to work at not saying Idaho Falls).

Just one Cybertruck disguised with a mottled semi-gloss/flat black wrap.  Still $&#] ugly. 🤮  When I got to Boise, saw a McLaren going the other way.

Funny thing was the faster the BMW went, the smoother it got.  Must have been that Autobahn DNA.  Nobody out there but me and sight distances are ridiculous.  Now, hitting a jack rabbit at that speed might have been problematic...  Went back years later with my wife in her Acura TL.  Normal/rational speed then.  When I told her about it her response was:  "That was stupid".

I had a green 1974 Buick LeSabre 2 dr HT=One of the best cars I've owned !

Hitting any object, especially any type of critter, can be a very startling experience at speed. Long ago I was driving north on a high desert hiway from southern California headed to Reno Nv. when a low flying and very large Crow decided to fly in front of me at front bumper level. I felt a slight impact at almost the same moment that the Crow flew into sight. Looking in the rear-view mirror there was a cloud of black feathers following me down the hiway for what seemed like a long time. No vehicle damage, but a few feathers were in behind the grill, and I found myself much more alert driving.

sat in my truck and waited like a half hour for them to put it on the tow truck then chassed after it so i could see it and get a pic.  im not super into JDM but i think it was worth it.

Out in west Texas I was behind a late model BMW at about a half mile. We were both going around 105, and the road was straight and flat and had been for several miles. Anyway, I saw something ahead and then brakelights and a bunch of debris. As I pulled up behind the car the driver was a woman who seemed frozen in place. It seemed a buzzard had misjudged his takeoff abilities and hit the top of the windshield. It actually caved in the windshield in the middle and dented the metal edge of the roof. No one was hurt except the buzzard though the woman was so shaken her friend had to drive them into the next town.

I did pretty much the same thing on my then-new Honda CB900F on US 395 in August 1981 while returning from Yosemite National Park, for a minute or two.  The speedo read to 85 MPH and there was a pin at that point to stop it from going any farther.  I got it up to about 9000RPM in 5th gear. where a tiny wobble encouraged me to slow down.  I figured about 120 MPH. After that, 55-60 felt like walking.

We drove the portion of 93 from the junction of highway 6 in Nevada to Twin Falls at the end of May, on our way to Gooding, ID.   Nice drive.  We spent a lot of travel time on that trip off the interstates.

Yes for sure does! Before he bought it it had never seen rain. He does have two more in various condition. And his daily during summer is a F150 Ligtening with the supercharger
