Rodent Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I think that's a Fiesta RS. I saw a new Maserati today down by the U of O, one of these days I'll have to go down there and take some pics- the rich Asian students are all about displaying their economic clout, even if they can't drive, LOL. Nope. 2009-ish Focus RS MKII. 300 hp 2.5 5-cylnder. Not sure how a Euro hot hatch with Mexican plates wound up at a hobby store in the Kapital of Kalifornia, but it was cool.

It's interesting to see the Mexican market cars, some makes and models not imported or sold in the US, plus local variations of US cars. For instance, they used the model designation "Dart" on Kcars, as well as their Chrysler LeBarons were "Phantoms", no doubt because the name was already owned by some other company in the US. Also things like in the US they didn't produce a Valiant hardtop, but Mexico did, as well as some interesting Mustang / Capri mash ups. Edited March 11, 2015 by Tom Geiger
Crazy Ed Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Not sure how a Euro hot hatch with Mexican plates wound up at a hobby store in the Kapital of Kalifornia, but it was cool. Via I-5 I'd guess................
Petetrucker07 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I saw this today. You don't see very many hot rod Mavericks. This 1 sounded very healthy.
Jaguar man 21 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Awsome maverick but. That's awsome to see a real rs, for the last three years at all ford nationals in carlsile there's been one that ford racing brings its one nasty littile car I want one sooooooo bad
Jaguar man 21 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Saw an 1970s light blue 911 targa, what looked like a coronet 4 door in Orange
Joe Handley Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Saw a GMC Typhoon black with gunmetal ground effects, looked really clean too!
Rob Hall Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Saw a sharp silver '63/64 Riviera, a white '80s Ferrari 308GTS, and pale green '49-50 Ford Fordor in solid shape.
Joe Handley Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Saw one of those Ferraris in dark blue when I left work today too!
Tom Geiger Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Saw a full trailer load of new lime green Toyota minivans, complete with taxi logos. It was on the NJ Tpike headed towards the PA border. I was headed the opposite direction but all that color got my attention
Jon Cole Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Yesterday, I saw a car that was actually quite clean. No salt. No grime.
Foxer Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 that would be impossible .. Jon's a New Hampshire resident .. either someone bought a new car or someone else bought a new car
Earl Marischal Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 A ratty looking matt black Lamborghini Countach on the M62 heading east. It looked really cheap and nasty. steve
Agent G Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 A ratty looking matt black Lamborghini Countach on the M62 heading east. It looked really cheap and nasty. steve My wife and I saw a new (14) BMW 320i that had been repainted matt black. It looked the same. G

G Matte black wraps (not paint, usually) seem to be all the rage in recent years..seen quite a few cars ranging from Challengers, Mustangs, Raptors to Audi R8s and Merc sedans done this way. Other matte colors are also catching on. Edited March 15, 2015 by Rob Hall
Sixx Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I seen a Polaris Slingshot sitting on the square, downtown Valparaiso IN. I also saw a metallic orange '51 Ford pickup
Agent G Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I didn't think about it being wrapped. I'm too old skool apparently, LOL. Still I feel it ruined the looks of the car. Those lines were made for glossy paint. G
Joe Handley Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Seems to me that the only real use for wrapping or dipping is police evasion ala Cannonball Run 2 or the US version of the movie series Taxi.
landman Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 There are wrapped ones here, GN's test cars. There was a Corvette-like car running around in a black & white paisley pattern this winter. Some are checker, others zebra, all black & white. Sometimes it seems like it isn't enough camouflage, so they stick bras on both ends. Of course, I never have a camera when I spot them.

Back when I lived in NJ and worked in NY state, I'd pass through Montvale, NJ every day. That's home to Mercedes, BMW, Mini and Volvo USA. We'd see masked cars all the time. Sometimes cars not imported to the USA and competitors like new Peugeots, all running NJ Manufacturers licenses plates. Montvale Police had at least two Mercedes patrol vehicles with "Courtesy of Mercedes Benz" lettered on the tail gates. Mercedes also had a lot of Smart cars tooling around, even before they were sold in the US, and including ones never sold here.... Target promotional vehicles Sports model, one of the Mercedes employees took this one home a lot! NYC Marathon official vehicles Smart 4 door This was in 2005 and none of these were US models, all Euro cars used for promotional purposes. All photos taken on the Mercedes headquarters parking lots. http://public.fotki.com/ModelCitizen/11_car_reference_library/smart_cars/ Edited March 17, 2015 by Tom Geiger
