That's a sharp truck! and it being a Toyota should last forever........... There was a story going around online of a guy who put a million miles on one not too long ago.....

Thanks; it is quite nice and sporty, what with the faux hood scoop, bucket seats and body colour bumpers; all part of the TRD Sport package, and with the new tires and 2019 Tacoma rims it does add to the sportiness. Though it is quite old, being a 2011, and it's muffler has been patched at least 4 or so times, since apparently the aftermarket ones are not the greatest. Otherwise it's still going quite strong; pulls that Jayco Hummingbird in the background quite a ways every summer.

Got new wheels/tires today.  I found some almost exact Ferrari (but F40) wheels, made in England.  The dealer in the States led me to it, but I had to TinEye reverse image the picture to figure out the brand, saw their price 😵‍💫, and he said the tariff scare (and that's what it is, next stop Irk thread) is messing things up, and I didn't hear from him again.  So I decided that since Discount Tire is just up the highway from me, and I like the vintage TorqThrust "American" Racing design, and it is a Corvette, I made the decision.  Avoided much needed rain.  Still have issues to sort out, before the Williams Route 66 car show June 7th.

The Baltimore orioles (birds) are back for the season. Already hammering the jelly feeders.

And I found a nice large garter snake in the yard while trimming the weeds.

I was at the VA clinic this afternoon to get my blood pressure checked and the doctor was pleased that it went down quite a bit. He put me on a second prescription and it seemed to have help. I'll be going back on the 21st on this month.

Why not ask the VA to give you a BP machine you can use at home?

I like the Americans, but as I'm kindof a fan of ba-tardized hot-rodded real Ferraris, the new look fits the bill nicely.  :D

I’m more impressed with my new R/C rig, it shouldn’t really be going what it is in this video, especially with how little actual money and work was done to mod it so far!

The doctor offered one but the clinic didn't have any on hand at the time. It'll send one out to me in the mail once more arrive.

I can't explain it, why this spoke form just works.  Even the Dodge pickups with giant versions similar in spoke look good.

There was a conflict with the wheel and caliper, almost had it fixed when I drove a little ways down White Spar.  Took the front wheel off again, and got it fixed when I drove to the top of Mingus Mountain (89A).  I feels at home on the curves, but needs suspension work and an alignment.  Oh yea, we had a storm blow through, sure need the precipitation!

Good, you can't really see how slow I'm going. 🤫

Had blood drawn for a pending follow up on my A1C levels.  In three months, dropped the A1C from 9.9 to 7.7 and Est Ave Glucose from 237 to 174.

Yesterday actually. My cousin went home with three of the five ACM awards he was nominated for. (all three related to this song with Ella)

Cruised on a part of abandoned Route 66, east of Ash Fork.  Other than a clearance issue of wheel/caliper, the 56 year old car runs great!
Very short segment that is being used as a street in town.  There is a museum past this sign.

This abandoned segment is off the Welch Road exit, heading west:

Then coming back, going east:

Found a Route 66 shield is still visible:

My new hat, sort of a mashup of Miami Vice and Stetson Western influence, need to keep the sun off!

Pleased I made it back without any issues.  Wasn't pulled over either. 😬

Why is it abandoned?   I believed it was famous and highly traveled..

Now that I'm awake from what irked me and I don't want to fall back asleep, I can tell what pleased me, yesterday to be exact. For mothers day our daughter and her fiancée had a cook out. We split the cost and bought a half bushel of steamed crabs, my wife's favorite. The crabs were full and delicious and my wife was happy. We even got to play with the grandkids in the backyard, with no injuries, lol Great day overall. Although at the end of the everyone was mumbling since they all have to go to work today. We'll all but me 😁

There are several locations where the alignment was changed, before the Interstate was a thing.  In this section, what remains was the second alignment, the first is a barely drivable dirt path, which I have taken with the pickup.  Just eastward, is the infamous Ash Fork Hill, the highway can barely be hiked because it's so abandoned.

Back in 1991  I went with a friend to Oatman AZ along the Route 66, several years before he was riding his old Harley through there and saw a RT 66 sign down in a gulley/ ravine/ culley (depending where you're from) he went down and hid the sign better.  We went in his Toyota truck to find it, It was still there and it hangs on the side of his body shop currently. Oatman was a fun town with donkeys everywhere.

Do you have a pic you can post? ( of the sign, not the donkeys 😁)

If I do it will be back from 35mm film days, and he is about 600 miles from my location now.
